Jets Sign Jacques Patrick, Others To Futures Deals
The New York Jets signed running back Jacques Patrick, wide receivers Malik Taylor and Lance McCutcheon, defensive linemen Stephen Jones and Marquiss Spencer, offensive lineman Vitaliy Gurman and Eze Obinna, cornerback Tae Hayes and kicker Austin Seibert to futures deals on Monday. Patrick was cut by the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 24 and signed with the Jets practice squad on Dec. 19. The 27-year-old has only played in two NFL games, back in 2021 with the San Francisco 49ers. Taylor got into two games for the Jets in 2023 and caught two passes for 13 yards. McCutcheon was cut by the Houston Texans in early October and latched onto the team's practice squad on Oct. 24. The 24-year-old didn't appear in a single game for New York and had zero catches on five targets in 10 games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2022.
Jacques Patrick Rushes For 76 Yards In Preseason Finale
Tennessee Titans running back Jacques Patrick utilized his skills with the pigskin to the tune of 15 carries for 76 yards in the Titans' 23-7 preseason win over New England. The former XFL running back also added two receptions for 18 yards and is looking to make the final 53-man roster. Working behind Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears, Patrick could be the 3rd down back in this offense and would be waiting in the wings should a significant injury to Henry occur. Unless that happens, however, Patrick will remain in fantasy anonymity and be, at best, nothing more than a waiver wire add.
The San Francisco 49ers waived running back Jacques Patrick and cornerback Davontae Harris on Tuesday. Patrick was brought in early in the season with Raheem Mostert out for the year and JaMycal Hasty, Jeff Wilson Jr. and Elijah Mitchell all banged up in the opening weeks of the season. The 24-year-old played just six snaps on offense in two games, though, and carried the ball only twice for 12 yards in the Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Mitchell returned to the backfield in Sunday's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and Hasty and Wilson could be returning in the next several weeks after the team's Week 6 bye.
The San Francisco 49ers are signing running back Jacques Patrick off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad. As injuries have depleted the San Francisco backfield, Patrick potentially has a chance to get some meaningful playing time with Trey Sermon (concussion) and JaMycal Hasty (ankle) set to miss some time. The former XFL star is not on the fantasy radar for now, as Duke Johnson, Lamar Miller, or T.J. Yeldon could also be signed to the active roster. Elijah Mitchell (shoulder) is considered day-to-today, so he will continue to serve as the lead back in the run-heavy 49ers offense. This backfield is something to monitor moving forward, but it may be best to avoid it entirely considering the unpredictability it brings on a weekly basis.
