The Cleveland Browns cut wide receiver Jaelen Strong on Monday. In his three seasons in the NFL (two with Houston, one with Jacksonville), Strong has only 31 catches for 330 yards and four touchdowns in 19 games. The most games he's played was 10 in his rookie season with the Texans. Strong's departure is good news for Derrick Willies and Ishmael Hyman, among others, as they try to make the final roster.
The Jacksonville Jaguars released wide receiver Jaelen Strong on Monday, according to a league source. Strong played in just one game and had three catches for 38 yards and a touchdown in Jacksonville last year. He also tore his ACL in that game and isn't a lock to be ready for the regular season in 2018, which will make it tough for him to land a job with another team. Strong has only 31 total catches for 330 yards (10.6 yards per catch) and four touchdowns in his three years in the league.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jaelen Strong (knee) announced on his Instagram that he suffered a torn ACL in the Week 16 loss to the 49ers. It was his first game played with the Jaguars, and he caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown before his devastating injury. It's a tough break for a player that was active for Jacksonville for the first time this season. It may be unlikely that he'll be ready for the start of the 2018 regular season, wherever he's playing.
The Jacksonville Jaguars added wide receiver Jaelen Strong to the active roster for Week 16, which may be a sign that Allen Hurns (ankle), who is questionable, will not be able to play. Hurns hasn't played since Week 10, and he wouldn't be a smart fantasy play even if he were able to play. In corresponding moves, the Jaguars waived/injured receiver Larry Pinkard (concussion) and signed linebacker Deon King to the practice squad. If Hurns is unable to play, receivers Dede Westbrook and Keelan Cole will be the team's top two wideouts, and they are worth considering as flex options in deeper leagues in a good matchup with the 49ers. Strong is unlikely to have much of a role, if any.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jaelen Strong (hamstring) will not play in Week 5 against the Steelers. Strong has yet to play since coming over from the Texans and is nowhere near the fantasy radar. That's really saying something, too, given Jacksonville's weak receiving corps minus Allen Robinson (knee).
Jaelen Strong, Jalen Ramsey Not Expected To Practice
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jaelen Strong (hamstring) and cornerback Jalen Ramsey (ankle) are not expected to practice Wednesday. Strong sat out last week after joining the team and is nowhere close to being on the fantasy radar. Ramsey has been limited with his ankle injury in the last few weeks but has managed to suit up on Sundays. He should be fine unless he suffers a setback.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Jaelen Strong (hamstring) is not expected to practice Thursday. He was limited in practice Wednesday, so this could be a setback for Strong. The former Houston receiver was claimed off waivers this week and could be inactive in Week 3. Jacksonville is in need of receiver depth with Allen Robinson (knee) done for the year, but it's debatable how much Strong can give them. He's not a fantasy factor at this moment.
The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed wide receiver Jaelen Strong off waivers from the Houston Texans on Tuesday. Strong was suspended for Week 1 but was surprisingly waived by Houston after he became eligible to return for Week 2. Jacksonville is also very thin at receiver with the season-long loss of Allen Robinson (knee). Strong has a chance to serve as the third wideout behind Marqise Lee and Allen Hurns, but don't count on any production from him right away.
The Houston Texans have released wide receiver Jaelen Strong. Strong was expected to be a big part of Houston's offense this season, but he wasn't targeted in Week 2. Still, the move comes as a surprise for a team in need of offense. This move could benefit Texans receiver Bruce Ellington if he can return in Week 3.
Jaelen Strong Not Targeted In Houston's Week 2 Game
After returning from a one-game suspension, Texans wide receiver Jaelen Strong was expected to be a key part of the Texans offense. Instead, Strong wasn't targeted in Houston's 13-9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Anyone thinking Strong would be a sleeper-pick in weekly fantasy leagues was disappointed with the performance. As long as quarterback Deshaun Watson keeps looking toward receiver DeAndre Hopkins as much as he did in Weeks 1 and 2, Strong won't provide fantasy value.
