Jamaal Charles Retires With Chiefs

Running back Jamaal Charles officially retired on Wednesday after 11 professional seasons and signed a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. The 32-year-old was a third-round pick in 2008 and spent nine years in KC, becoming the team's all-time leading rusher with 7,260 yards, including five 1,000-yard seasons on the ground. Charles was a two-time All-Pro in 2010 and 2013 and was named to four Pro Bowls. He lost most of his explosiveness when he tore his ACL in 2015, and he bounced around several teams the last couple seasons. It might be a stretch for him to get into the Hall of Fame, but Charles was one of the most effective all-around backs in his heyday.

Jaguars Release Jamaal Charles

The Jacksonville Jaguars released running back Jamaal Charles on Monday after he had only six carries in two games. With the team acquiring Carlos Hyde last Friday, there's no need for Charles on the roster with Leonard Fournette (hamstring) likely sidelined through the team's Week 9 bye.

Jamaal Charles Not Worth Playing In Week 7

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Jamaal Charles has a long history of productive NFL play, but his latest stop in his post-Chiefs career doesn't represent another chance to contribute for the veteran. Charles had 10 yards on six total touches last week and hasn't shown anything to suggest he should be in fantasy lineups in Week 7.

Jamaal Charles Barely A Factor In Week 6

Prior to Sunday's meeting with the Dallas Cowboys, the Jacksonville Jaguars signed former Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, but the once great fantasy player barely factored into Sunday's loss, carrying the ball five times for five yards while catching one pass for five yards as well. Charles isn't worth fantasy consideration in any size league at this point.

Jaguars Signing Jamaal Charles

The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing free-agent running back Jamaal Charles on Tuesday, according to a source. In a corresponding move, running back Brandon Wilds was waived. That means that Charles should be the direct backup to T.J. Yeldon in Week 6 against the Cowboys. The veteran back had 69 carries for 296 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and one score in 14 games in his lone season in Denver in 2017. Charles isn't likely to carry any fantasy value, though, especially since Leonard Fournette (hamstring) could return in Week 7, which would push Charles to third on the depth chart.

Jaguars Working Out Jamaal Charles, Charcandrick West

With Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette (hamstring) expected to miss his fourth game of the year in Week 6 and with Corey Grant (foot) out for the season, the team is bringing in free-agent running backs Jamaal Charles and Charcandrick West for workouts on Tuesday, according to a source informed of the visits. T.J. Yeldon will continue to hold down the fort in the backfield in Week 6 against the Cowboys, with Brandon Wilds backing him up. Yeldon will remain a strong RB2 choice, especially in PPR leagues, until Fournette returns.

Jamaal Charles, Orleans Darkwa Still Looking For Work

The Washington Redskins brought in free-agent running backs Orleans Darkwa (Giants) and Jamaal Charles (Broncos) for workouts, but the club elected to ink Adrian Peterson to a one-year deal instead. Darkwa and Charles remain unrestricted free-agents and will stay in the unemployment line for now. Darkwa appeared in 15 games for the New York Giants last season, posting a career-high 751 yards, five rushing touchdowns and 4.4 yards per tote on 171 carries. He is still just 26, and should find work with an organization at some point. Charles is 31 years old, and has a lot more mileage on his legs. It isn't a given that he'll land a job in 2018, and if he does it will be in a reserve role at this point of his career.

Redskins Meeting With Jamaal Charles

The Washington Redskins are meeting with free-agent running back Jamaal Charles on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 31-year-old had 69 carries for 296 yards (4.3 yards per carry) in his one season with Denver in 2017 and has been a fantasy afterthought. Washington is desperate for some depth with rookie Derrius Guice (knee) out for the year and Samaje Perine (ankle) and Byron Marshall (ankle) both injured this week. Charles would simply be a camp body.

Jamaal Charles To Visit With Saints

Free-agent running back Jamaal Charles will visit with the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, according to a source. Charles carried the ball only 69 times for 296 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and one touchdown in 14 games for the Broncos last season, and the veteran running back doesn't have much left at this point in his career. He could provide some depth for the Saints to begin the year, though, with Mark Ingram suspended the first four games.

Jamaal Charles Inactive For Second Straight Week

Denver Broncos running back Jamaal Charles is a healthy inactive in Week 17 against the Chiefs. It's the second straight week that Charles has been a healthy scratch, and he indicated that he'd rather be released than sit and watch on the sidelines. The 31-year-old veteran stayed healthy in 2017, but he was frequently used and wasn't very productive when given the chance, running just 69 times for 296 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and one touchdown. He also added 23 receptions for 129 yards. Charles is likely to be looking for another team in the offseason. C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker will split the backfield work against Kansas City to close out the year.
