James Ferentz Announces Retirement

New England Patriots offensive lineman James Ferentz announced his retirement from the NFL on Tuesday. Ferentz hangs up his cleats as a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots. The 34-year-old came into the league as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2015 with the Denver Broncos. He played his first two seasons in the NFL with the Broncos before joining New England in 2018. Ferentz was with the Patriots for the last six seasons, but he played in just one game this past season as the backup to center David Andrews.

Patriots Placing James Ferentz On COVID-19 List

The New England Patriots are placing center James Ferentz on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday, according to a source. The Patriots are still on schedule to face the Broncos in Week 6 on Sunday, but if the game winds up being played, quarterback Cam Newton will be taking snaps from someone else. It's something to keep an eye on, but it shouldn't deter fantasy managers from considering Newton as an upside QB1 in his return after a positive COVID-19 test himself. Denver's D has allowed the 10th-most fantasy points per game to the QB position and are without their top playmakers on that side of the ball. They've also allowed signal-callers to run for 96 yards, eighth-most in the NFL.
