Ja'Wuan James News
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that right tackle Ja'Wuan James (Achilles) has a chance to return to the team in December. Harbaugh said that James hasn't had any setbacks in his recovery. James missed all of the 2020 season with the Denver Broncos and had surgery in the offseason after tearing his Achilles during a workout away from the team's facilities. "It's still the same time frame," Harbaugh said. "There's been no setbacks. He looks good. I see him walking around. He's in the meetings. He's got great spirits. He's been running straight ahead." James was placed on the Non-Football Injury list at the end of August.
The Denver Broncos placed right tackle Ja'Wuan James (Achilles) on the Non-Football Injury list on Friday after he tore his Achilles while working away from the team's facilities on Tuesday. While it's not a guarantee, James is in danger of missing the entire 2021 season after opting out of last season due to COVID-19. He is set for surgery this and will have a more accurate timetable after the procedure. James is due $10 million in base salary this year, but with the injury occurring off site, the Broncos aren't contractually obligated to pay him. The 28-year-old signed a four-year, $51 million contract before the 2019 season, but he's playing in just three games for them so far. James spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins after they took him 19th overall in the 2014 draft.
Denver Broncos offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles while working out away from the team facilities on Tuesday, according to sources. His $10 million salary for the upcoming season is now in jeopardy with the Broncos no longer obligated to pay him because he wasn't working out at the team's facilities. However, doctors told James that they're hopeful that he won't miss the entire 2021 season. Surgery is scheduled for later this week, and the Broncos will know more about a recovery timetable then. James signed a four-year, $51 million deal in 2019 but has been limited to three games with the Broncos. He suffered a knee injury in 2019 and opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19. He's at risk of being put on the Non-Football Injury list and losing a portion or all of his $10 million base salary in 2021. Backup left tackle Calvin Anderson could be the first up to replace James on the right side this year.
