Jerick McKinnon News
San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon was the team's primary pass-catching running back in Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals. He reeled in three of his four targets for 28 yards in the game. He may see a little more action this week as the 49ers face the Seattle Seahawks, who have the league's worst pass defense, allowing 287.9 passing yards per game. Jeff Wilson Jr., who had 22 carries in Week 16, will be the team's primary ball carrier, but McKinnon could see somewhere around five or six targets in the passing game, if not more. The team will be without Brandon Aiyuk (ankle) in the game, so quarterback C.J. Beathard will be desperate for viable passing options. McKinnon is a potential desperation play as an RB3, RB4 or flex in deep PPR leagues, but he's extremely risky.
San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon caught three of his four targets for 28 yards in Week 16 against the Arizona Cardinals. He only received one carry in the game, rushing for four yards. Jeff Wilson Jr. was the team's featured back this week, rushing 22 times for 183 yards. McKinnon, however, was the primary pass-catching back for the team. He was second on the team in targets behind George Kittle, who had five. 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard only attempted 22 passes in the game. Had the team needed Beathard to throw more, McKinnon likely would have gotten several more opportunities.
San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon has an opportunity to see an uptick in playing time this week against the Arizona Cardinals. With Raheem Mostert (ankle) shut down for the season, the team will lean heavily on Jeff Wilson Jr. as their primary ball-carrier, but McKinnon might be the team's primary pass-catching running back. In Week 15, McKinnon caught both of his targets for 22 yards while Wilson failed to bring in any of his four targets. McKinnon's main competition for playing time behind Wilson is Tevin Coleman, but McKinnon out-snapped Coleman 14 to six in Week 15 and offers more potential in the passing game. McKinnon is a risky play this week as he could very well have another quiet game, but he's shown fantasy value when the work has been there throughout the year. This week could be an active one for him, making him worthy of flex consideration in deep PPR leagues.
