Samaje Perine News
Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that running back Samaje Perine has been the most impressive back in spring practices. The 23-year-old was active for only five games in 2018 and had eight rushing attempts after running the ball 175 times for 603 yards and a score in his rookie season. Ball-security issues have really plagued Perine early in his career, and he's also buried on the depth chart behind Derrius Guice, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. Perine would need an injury or two ahead of him to have some intrigue in fantasy.
Washington Redskins running back Samaje Perine (calf) is questionable for Thursday's matchup against Dallas. The 23-year-old wasn't available for the team's last game against the Texans in Week 11, and despite being upgraded to a limited participant in recent practices, he may not be ready to go. Regardless if he plays or not, he will likely be used sparingly as running back Adrian Peterson, who ran for 99 yards against the Cowboys back in October, will likely get most of the touches from the backfield against a tough Dallas defense.
Washington Redskins wide receiver Josh Doctson (heel) and running back Samaje Perine are both inactive for Monday night against the Saints. Doctson was in a walking boot late last week, so he was always a long shot to play in this one. In his absence, Jamison Crowder and Paul Richardson should see more targets against a beatable New Orleans secondary. Tight end Jordan Reed will also have a higher ceiling. Maurice Harris will get the start and play in three-wide sets, but he's unlikely to put up big numbers. Perine is a healthy scratch and is well off the fantasy radar.
Washington Redskins running back Samaje Perine is a healthy inactive in Week 1 against the Cardinals. This isn't a huge surprise with Adrian Peterson starting and Rob Kelley backing him up on early downs for the Redskins in the season opener. Perine can be ignored in all fantasy leagues for now. Wide receiver Maurice Harris is also a healthy scratch.
The Washington Redskins elected to keep running back Samaje Perine on the 53-man roster, as he edged out Kapri Bibbs. The latter was signed to the practice squad on Sunday. The fourth-round pick from 2017 still has an uphill climb back to fantasy relevance, as veteran Adrian Peterson tops the depth chart, with Rob Kelley expected to serve as his immediate backup. Chris Thompson is expected to work in a traditional third-down role, so Perine will be fighting for crumbs. Fumbles have held Perine back from carving out a larger role, so avoid him outside of the deepest of fantasy leagues unless injuries create a need for him.
