Myles Murphy News
The Cincinnati Bengals are expecting defensive end Myles Murphy (knee) to miss around four to six weeks with a knee sprain, according to sources. The Bengals will be conservative with the 2023 first-rounder to make sure he's a full-go upon his return. Murphy suffered the knee injury in Wednesday's joint practice with the Indianapolis Colts and will now miss the start of his second NFL season. The 22-year-old was selected 28th overall last year out of Clemson and finished his first year in the league with 20 tackles (10 solo), three sacks, three tackles for loss and three QB hits in 17 games (zero starts). While Murphy is out, the Bengals will be looking for the likes of Cedric Johnson, Joseph Ossai and Justin Blazek to step up and provide defensive-end depth behind Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard.

Myles Murphy Could Be Situational Pass-Rusher
Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive end Myles Murphy, who was taken with the 28th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, has looked as explosive as advertised in the team's positional drills this offseason. His repetitions were predominantly with the backups, and Cincinnati wants Murphy to be on the field in key pass-rushing situations as they try to increase their pressure rate. "Lot of my friends that played with him say he's a good guy," wide receiver Tee Higgins said. "Hopefully he can come in and make an impact early." At 6-foot-5, 268 pounds, the 21-year-old is on the big side for an edge rusher, but his combination of size and speed is what makes him special. Murphy could eventually become a three-down player for the Bengals, but it probably won't happen right away.

Myles Murphy Signs Rookie Deal
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Myles Murphy has signed a four-year deal with the organization. The team selected Murphy with the No. 28 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 draft. He earned himself high praise after some impressive work at the NFL Combine. It was enough for the Bengals to select Murphy in the first round. The Clemson product finished with 18.5 sacks and 36 tackles for loss over three seasons in college. He'll immediately give this defensive line a boost heading into next season. The Bengals finished 29th in sacks last season, but the combination of Murphy and Trey Hendrickson should change that.

Myles Murphy Taken By Bengals Late In First Round
The Cincinnati Bengals selected University of Clemson edge rusher Myles Murphy with the No. 28 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft on Thursday night. Murphy should immediately contribute on the defensive side of the ball for the Bengals in his rookie year, and he could end up being a steal in this draft. The 21-year-old measures in at 6-foot-5, 268 pounds, which is big for an edge rusher. He makes up for being oversized at the position by having great speed and length, which allows him to contribute as both a pass-rusher and run-stopper. There aren't many holes in his game after leading the Tigers in both sacks and tackles for loss in each of the last three years. Murphy could quickly become an option for fantasy managers in IDP formats.
