Cleveland Browns defensive end Joe Jackson landed on the COVID-19 list on Tuesday, thereby putting his status for Sunday's game against Jacksonville in question. Players do not have to test positive for the virus to be placed on the list. Jackson has been a lightly utilized defensive end for the Browns Defense this season, not having taken the field since Week 4. Even without Defensive Player of the Year candidate Myles Garrett last week, Cleveland turned in one of its best defensive outings of 2020, which bodes well for the group's upside against a Jaguars offense that failed to score a touchdown last week. Jackson's inclusion on the COVID-19 list does not appear to be affecting the status of Sunday's game at this stage. Cleveland's D has taken a slight hit with Garrett out and Denzel Ward hurt, but they're still worth starting this weekend in an excellent matchup.
The 5th round defensive-end out of Miami had a 3rd round grade from the Cowboys out of the draft, so it's no surprise to see him impress early on. He finished his college career with 24 sacks over the course of three seasons. Jackson is a natural 4-3 DE built off of strength and a strong first move. Think of a bull in a china shop. "He never quits on a play. This is his first time weve had the live action and Im telling you he was really impressive. He was all over the field. He was aggressive. I thought he had a good day. Said Jerry Jones after the scrimmage. Jackson will start off as a situational pass rusher, but could very well get more usage as he improves against the run.
