The San Francisco 49ers re-signed defensive lineman Jordan Willis to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday. In his first full season with the Niners last year, Willis had 15 tackles (six solo), five QB hits, a career-high three sacks and a forced fumble in 10 games (zero starts). The 26-year-old can contribute both in run and pass defense, as well as on special teams, but he isn't fantasy relevant at all. He was originally selected in the third round in 2017 by the Cincinnati Bengals out of Kansas State. Willis has 80 tackles (49 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 19 QB hits, 8.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries in 60 games (two starts) in five NFL seasons.

Despite the suspension, Willis will be able to participate in all offseason practices and all three preseason games. He'll be eligible to return on Monday, Oct. 25, after the team's Week 7 game against the Indianapolis Colts. The 26-year-old backup was acquired from the New York Jets in a trade last year and re-signed this offseason for one year. In seven games, he had 13 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2020 for the Niners. Willis is expected to compete for a spot on the team's roster in training camp as an edge rusher.

He has played in 50 games (two starts) and has tallied 63 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one pass defensed in a four-year career that has includes stops with the Bengals, New York Jets and 49ers. The 25-year-old played a full 16-game schedule in his first two seasons with Cincinnati, but he made just two starts in that span, the only two starts in his career to this point.
The San Francisco 49ers acquired outside linebacker Jordan Willis and a seventh-round pick in 2021 from the New York Jets on Wednesday in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2022, according to a source. Willis has no tackles and one fumble recovery in two games for the Jets this season and has recorded 52 tackles (36 solo), eight tackles for loss, nine QB hits and three sacks in 43 career games (two starts) between the Bengals and Jets since 2017. The 25-year-old will merely be linebacker/defensive end depth for San Francisco, while the Jets continue to accumulate late-round picks amidst their lost 2020 season.
