Justin Hardy News

Bears Sign Justin Hardy

The Chicago Bears have signed free-agent wide receiver Justin Hardy. Hardy has played the first five seasons of his career with the Falcons and has 95 receptions for 946 yards and nine touchdowns for his career. Hardy had registered all nine scores from 2016-2018 but caught only 19 passes in 2019 before not playing at all last season. The move corresponds with the Bears moving on from former second-round pick Anthony Miller and Hardy will compete for one of the final wide receivers spots on the team.

Justin Hardy, Kyle Sloter Work Out For Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks brought in wide receiver Justin Hardy and quarterback Kyle Sloter for a workout Thursday. Hardy is the more notable of the two, having played in all 16 regular-season games for Atlanta in each of the last four years, having racked up nine touchdowns in that span. Should he ultimately wind up signing in Seattle, he could have some upside DFS appeal if he can prove a valuable target for Russell Wilson. As for Sloter, he is yet to appear in an NFL game, having cycled through four organizations since joining the league in 2017.

Justin Hardy Not Worth Rostering Or Starting For Week 10

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy appears to be the team's clear No. 4 receiver for now, behind Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage. After the trade of Mohamed Sanu, there was some speculation that Hardy could step up as the No. 3 receiver for the team, but instead it was Gage who stepped up in a big way in the team's first game without Sanu. In Week 8, Gage logged 47 snaps compared with Hardy's 12 and caught seven passes while Hardy caught two. The Falcons have an elite passing game and they could potentially sustain three receivers in fantasy but Hardy isn't one of those receivers right now. He can be left on waivers in all leagues.

Justin Hardy Has A Quiet Game In Week 8

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy saw just four targets in Week 8 and caught two of them for 23 yards. It was the most targets Hardy had seen since earning five targets in Week 1, but the performance was a bit of a letdown given the fact that the team had just traded away Mohamed Sanu and Hardy was expected to be the primary fill-in for Sanu. Instead, fellow wide receiver Russell Gage stepped up in a big way, with seven catches for 58 yards on nine targets. Neither Hardy nor Gage are worthy pick-ups at this point. They'd need an injury to Julio Jones or Calvin Ridley to be worthy of consideration.

Justin Hardy Not Worthy Of Starting In Week 8

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy should receive more opportunities going forward now that Mohamed Sanu is no longer with the team. However, the Falcons have a lot of mouths to feed in their passing game and Hardy will at best be the fourth option this week behind Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Austin Hooper. He also might not get as many targets as running back Devonta Freeman. Starting quarterback Matt Ryan (ankle) is questionable for the game and if the team's backup Matt Schaub starts, then Hardy's outlook is even bleaker. Hardy is worth keeping an eye on going forward and if either of the team's top two receivers go down, he'd become an instant add candidate. For now, he can remain on waivers in all leagues.

Justin Hardy Has Team-High 24 Receiving Yards On Thursday

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy was the team's receiving yards leader on Thursday and all it took was one catch. Hardy was only targeted once in the game and reeled the target in for a 24-yard gain. The team's passing game wasn't quite operating on full efficiency, totaling just 80 passing yards on the night. Matt Ryan played the first half and was relieved by Danny Etling in the second half. The absence of lead receiver Julio Jones was a contributing factor to the low offensive output but it was a clearly conservative gameplan from the team as a whole. Hardy isn't a viable fantasy option going into the season as he's buried behind Jones, Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu on the team's depth chart.

Justin Hardy Has Three Catches Through Three Preseason Games

Over three preseason games, Atlanta Falcons fifth-year receiver Justin Hardy has caught three of his seven targets for just 24 yards. Hardy is firmly behind Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Mohamed Sanu on the team's depth chart, but he should be relatively secure as the team's fourth receiver, as everyone behind him has very little NFL experience. Hardy has very little fantasy relevance heading into 2019. He's averaged about 27 targets, 18 receptions, 180 receiving yards and three touchdowns the past three years and figures to be around the same marks this year.

Justin Hardy Has Another Touchdown In Week 15

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy made it back to back weeks with a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Hardy had another three receptions in this game, and added 29 yards to the 30 he had last week on three receptions against the Green Bay Packers. It is interesting that Hardy has suddenly become a red zone target for Matt Ryan but it is also hard to trust. At best Hardy is the fourth receiving option in that offense and is also probably behind Austin Hooper as well. Next week is a good matchup but it would take a brave person to use Hardy in fantasy championships. In DFS tournaments he could be an interesting low-priced contrarian play.

Justin Hardy Catches Touchdown Pass Sunday

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy caught his first touchdown of the season against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Hardy three receptions and four targets in this game, bringing his season totals to 11 and 17 respectively. Interestingly, Hardy was targeted as much as Calvin Ridley in this game, and actually did more with the opportunities. Saying that there is still little value in Hardy of the rest of the season, as he will likely remain the Falcons fourth option and the best he can hope for it to move up to the third option.

Justin Hardy the Fourth Wide Receiver On The Depth Chart

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Justin Hardy is listed behind Julio Jones on the depth chart at the first receiving spot. This puts Hardy fourth on the depth chart behind Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Calvin Ridley. Hardy should see the field in four wide receiver sets, but the Falcons used those on just 3% of plays last season, which means his opportunities will be rare. Hardy has a great chance to make the roster because of his value on kick returns. Hardy's fantasy value is extremely limited as he had a career high 221 yards receiving in 2017. Unless there are significant injuries in the Falcons receiving core Hardy is unlikely to play enough amount of time to be fantasy relevant.
