Kam Chancellor News
The Seattle Seahawks placed safety Kam Chancellor (neck) on the reserve Physically Unable to Perform list, meaning he won't be able to play in 2018. Chancellor was one of the league's top safeties in his prime, but he's unlikely to play football again after a serious neck injury. Without Chancellor and cornerback Richard Sherman (now in San Fran), the once vaunted Legion of Boom defense is crumbling. Disgruntled safety Earl Thomas is holding out and is likely to be traded.
Seattle Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor (neck) looks to have played his last game in the NFL. He never used the words "retire," but he seemed to indicate in a Twitter post that he would be moving on. "To walk away from the game by choice is one thing, to walk away from the game because of the risk of paralysis is another," Chancellor tweeted. He said on Sunday that the "final test" of his neck injury "showed no healing." The four-time Pro Bowler missed the last seven games of the 2017 season and will be a big loss moving forward with cornerback Richard Sherman also playing for another team. The Legion of Boom as we once knew it has dwindled even further.
Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor (neck) will undergo a neck scan in late June or early July, and the team should know more about his future at that time, according to general manager John Schneider. Chancellor has been the heart and soul of Seattle's tough defense for years, but he also hasn't played a full season since 2013. In a career-low nine games in 2017, Chancellor had only 49 tackles and no interceptions. At this point it's unclear if he'll be able to contribute much heading into his age-30 season.
