Kamu Grugier-Hill News
The Carolina Panthers signed free-agent linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill to an undisclosed deal earlier this week. Grugier-Hill will give the Panthers more defensive depth and a top-end special teams player. The 28-year-old former sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2016 out of Eastern Illinois has played in 98 games in his seven-year career, including 37 starts. He spent the 2022 season with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, recording 48 tackles (38 solo) in 15 games (six starts). In his career, Grugier-Hill has picked up 282 tackles (206 solo), five sacks, 26 tackles for loss, 10 QB hits, two interceptions, six passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Former Houston Texans linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill signed an undisclosed deal with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, according to a source. He led the Texans with 108 tackles and 13 tackles for loss last year and had started all six games with them this year before requesting his release last week. In those six games, Grugier-Hill racked up 40 tackles (30 solo) and a pass defensed. The 28-year-old saw his playing time decrease to allow rookie Christian Harris to get into the mix in Houston, but now he'll join a linebacking corps that includes Isaiah Simmons and Zaven Collins. Grugier-Hill had the best season of his career with the Texans last year, and before that he hadn't recorded more than 45 combined tackles in a single season.
Houston Texans veteran linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill asked for and was granted his release on Wednesday. Grugier-Hill has recorded 40 tackles (30 solo) in six games with the Texans this year and leaves the organization ranking first (20) and second (18) in franchise history in tackles in a single game. The 28-year-old former sixth-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2016 out of Eastern Illinois had a career-high 108 tackles (71 solo), 13 tackles for loss, five QB hits, an interception, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and three sacks in 14 starts in his first year in Houston last season.
