Kareem Jackson News
The Denver Broncos re-signed veteran safety Kareem Jackson to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday. Jackson has started 44 games for the Broncos in the last three seasons and has compiled 177 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, 16 passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown) over that span. The 33-year-old was originally a first-round pick (20th overall) by the Houston Texans in 2010 out of Alabama. Jackson should remain a key starter in Denver's secondary this season. The Broncos D was the strength of their team in 2021 and should be an attractive fantasy unit despite the tough division they play in.
The Denver Broncos defense won't have safety Kareem Jackson (neck, shoulder) and defensive end Shelby Harris (ankle) for Sunday's meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers. With how explosive the L.A. offense can be, fantasy managers should try to avoid playing the Broncos defense this week if possible, as there's a good chance the team gives up a lot of points. This also gives Chargers players like quarterback Justin Herbert and running back Austin Ekeler a higher ceiling.
The Denver Broncos re-signed safety Kareem Jackson to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to a source. Denver initially declined to pick up Jackson's $10 million 2021 option, which made him an unrestricted free agent. His re-signing is a big boost to an already strong secondary. Jackson had a career-high 89 tackles and played in all but five of the team's 1,088 defensive snaps in his 11th NFL season last year. He was ranked as the league's fifth-best safety in 2020 by Pro Football Focus. The Broncos also signed franchise-tagged All-Pro safety Justin Simmons to a long-term contract, giving the Broncos perhaps the best safety duo in the league now that Jackson is back in the fold.
