Kellen Moore Expected To Become Cowboys Offensive Coordinator
The Dallas Cowboys haven't made an official decision, but Kellen Moore is expected to be the team's next offensive coordinator, while Jon Kitna is expected to be hired as quarterbacks coach. Head coach Jason Garrett won't be calling plays, but tight ends coach Doug Nussmeier will also have more influence over the offense. Moore was previously the team's quarterbacks coach, so he'll receive a promotion. Dallas' offense struggled to do anything outside of Ezekiel Elliott until the team traded for receiver Amari Cooper. They ranked 22nd in yards per game (343.8), 23rd in passing yards (221.1), 10th in rushing yards (122.7) and 22nd in points per game (21.2). Moore's main task will be to continue the development of quarterback Dak Prescott.
The Dallas Cowboys released quarterback Kellen Moore. Moore began the season as Dak Prescott's backup, but impressive undrafted rookie Cooper Rush jumped him on the depth chart, leaving Moore as a healthy inactive last week. Moore is rumored to be a strong guy to have in the QB room, but his on-field performance simply isn't to NFL standards. He may latch on somewhere as a number three signal caller just based on his expertise, but he's fairly unlikely to take another NFL snap.
The Dallas Cowboys released backup quarterback Kellen Moore. That means that rookie Cooper Rush has won the Cowboys number two quarterback job, backup up starter Dak Prescott, at least for now. Moore played in three games in 2015 and did not fare well. The Cowboys may end up re-signing him since he knows the playbook and has experience in their quarterback room. A mediocre talent (at best) with a noodle arm, the Cowboys are likely Moore's best chance of continuing an NFL career.
