The Las Vegas Raiders signed free-agent veteran linebacker Kenny Young to an undisclosed deal on Monday. Young was traded from the Los Angeles Rams to the Denver Broncos at midseason last year. He finished the season with a total of 75 tackles (41 solo), six tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 13 starts. The 27-year-old will likely be a rotational linebacker for the Raiders in 2022. Young was originally a fourth-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2018 out of UCLA. He has 195 tackles (127 solo), 16 tackles for loss, 13 QB hits, 5.5 sacks, one interception for a touchdown, four passes defensed, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 59 career games (25 starts) over four NFL seasons.
The Denver Broncos acquired linebacker Kenny Young and a 2024 seventh-round pick from the Los Angeles Rams on Monday in exchange for a 2024 sixth-round pick, according to sources. The Broncos are currently dealing with eight injured linebackers, with six of them on Injured Reserve. Josey Jewell, Micah Kiser and Alexander Johnson are the notable Denver linebackers on IR, and their lack of depth in the middle showed last Thursday night when they let Cleveland Browns third-string running back D'Ernest Johnson run all over them for well over 100 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Broncos also traded for linebacker Stephen Weatherly over the weekend. With the Broncos defense hurting and creating just one turnover during their four-game losing streak, they won't be a very attractive streaming D for fantasy in Week 8 against the Washington Football Team.
Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Kenny Young participated in Wednesday's practice, but he struggled with some sort of illness, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. Young, the Ravens MVP of the week, was electrifying while filling in for star C.J. Mosley (knee) in the team's 27-14 win over the Broncos. The fourth-round draft pick led the Ravens with 10 tackles (eight solo) despite being on the field for only 44 of the 62 (70.9 percent) defensive snaps. With his Week 3 performance, he now tops the team in several categories -- tackles (22), solo tackles (17) and tackles for losses (three). It will be interesting to see how much playing time Young, who has received an above-average grade from Pro Football Focus in all three of their categories, will get if Mosley is able to play in Week 4. If Mosley is unable to go or is limited in any way, Young would be a good IDP streamer against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
