The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed free-agent running back Kerwynn Williams to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. Wide receiver Sergio Bailey was waived in a corresponding move. Williams was in training camp with the Chiefs last year but wasn't on an NFL roster in 2018. He spent four seasons with the Cardinals from 2014-17 and has history with head coach Bruce Arians. Williams had 218 carries for 971 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards per carry in his time with Arizona. He'll be competing with Andre Ellington, rookie Bruce Anderson and Shaun Wilson for depth behind Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones II. You can ignore Williams for fantasy purposes.
Kerwynn Williams, Darrel Williams Continue Lackluster Start
Kansas City Chiefs running backs Kerwynn Williams and Darrel Williams continued their lackluster starts to the preseason on Friday. Kerwynn Williams rushed for 23 yards on eight attempts, while Darrel Williams rushed for 15 yards on six attempts. However, lead back Kareem Hunt finished with 15 yards on seven attempts. It does not appear that anyone is running well in KC right now. Both Kerwynn and Darrel are not expected to have much fantasy value behind Hunt this season.
Free-agent running back Kerwynn Williams is signing a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, according to a source. Williams had a career year in Arizona with both David Johnson and Adrian Peterson getting injured, rushing 120 times for 426 yards and one touchdown. In KC he'll have to compete with Charcandrick West, Spencer Ware, Akeem Hunt and Damien Williams, so Kerwynn Williams definitely is not a lock to make the final roster. Kareem Hunt remains the Chiefs workhorse back.
The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting free-agent running back Kerwynn Williams on Friday. Williams started six games for the Cardinals in 2017 and posted career highs in attempts (120) and yards (426) while scoring one touchdown on the ground. Williams would provide depth for the Chiefs behind Kareem Hunt and Charcandrick West. However, Spencer Ware is still around, too, meaning Williams would likely need several injuries ahead of him to gain fantasy value and playing time.
Arizona Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams was active coming into Week 17 and ran for 75 yards on 23 carries in the team's victory. Williams has produced as a solid flex option when called upon following injuries to David Johnson and Adrian Peterson. However, it is unlikely that he will continue to occupy a significant chunk of the carries next season when the aforementioned duo returns.
Arizona Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams(quadriceps, ribs) and Elijhaa Penny (hand, groin) are active in Week 17. After practicing on a limited basis throughout the previous week, Williams is suiting up and should receive a full workload against the Seahawks. Treat Williams as a flex play in a week where most of the top options will be rested. Penny will simply serve as a change of pace in this one.
Kerwynn Williams And Elijhaa Penny Limited In Thursday’s Practice
Arizona Cardinals running backs Kerwynn Williams (quadriceps, ribs) and Elijhaa Penny (hand, groin) were both limited in Thursdays practice. This is promising for both players, as they are expected to play in this weekends game. Williams should be considered a flex option in only the deepest of leagues, at best, while Penny is just a low-end handcuff with big-play upside.
John Brown Misses Practice, Kerwynn Williams Limited
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown (toe) did not practice Wednesday, while running backs Kerwynn Williams (quadriceps, ribs) and Elijhaa Penny (hand, groin) were both limited. It is likely that Williams and Penny will both play this weekend, as they were able to practice in some capacity Wednesday. Williams figures to be a decent flex option while Penny is not start-worthy in most formats. Brownseems to have suffered another setback despite playing last week. However, should he practice in some capacity before the week is up, we could see him return to the field, where his fantasy value would be as a WR3/4 with a low floor.
Arizona Cardinals running back Kerwynn Williams came back from his injury and had 16 carries for 52 yards to go along with two receptions for 14 yards on the day. Williams lived up to his billing as a flex play and reclaimed the lion's share of the carries from fellow running back Elijhaa Penny on the day. Williams is still the lead back for the team and still should be considered a low-end flex play for those with Week 17 matchups.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown (toe) and running back Kerwynn Williams (quadriceps, ribs) are both active for Sunday's game. This comes after the pair were labeled questionable coming into the weekend. Brown should be seen as a WR4/flex with a low floor for the week, while Williams is expected to resume his position as the lead back and should maintain flex value in deeper leagues. This means that fellow running back Elijhaa Penny's fantasy value should diminish considerably. He is not a start-worthy option this week.
