Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Kevin Minter was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Monday. It's unclear if he tested positive or came into close contact with someone who was infected. The 30-year-old primarily plays special teams and is the top reserve behind starting linebacker Lavonte David. Minter has racked up two tackles over both games in 2021. If Minter cannot suit up for Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, K.J. Britt would play on special teams and provide Tampa Bay linebacker depth for Sunday.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers reached an agreement on an undisclosed one-year deal to re-sign inside linebacker Kevin Minter on Friday, according to a source. Minter was the team's 2020 special teams captain and also a key backup on defense. He stepped in for Devin White when he was placed on the COVID-19 list in Week 17 and finished with 13 tackles in the regular season finale. He also started in place of White in the team's wild-card playoff win over Washington. The 30-year-old was a second-round pick by the Cardinals in 2013, and he had 15 total tackles and one pass defended in 16 games (one start) during the regular season last year.
