Lance McCutcheon Leads Rams In Receiving For Third Straight Game
Los Angeles Rams receiver Lance McCutcheon caught five of eight targets for 76 yards in Saturday's 16-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the preseason finale. The 23-year-old came undrafted out of Montana State to lead the NFL in receiving yards this preseason. He led the Rams in both receptions and yards in each of their preseason games. His scouting profile at SI.com said, "X receiver, who lacks the speed and hands to make an NFL roster." As interviewed during the TV broadcast, Rams GM Les Snead said, "Lance is doing his part to make it easy [to make the roster decision]." The Rams currently have nine receivers on their roster. According to The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue, they are expected to keep as many as eight, almost assuredly including McCutcheon.

Los Angeles Rams receiver Lance McCutcheon had his second straight big game, racking up five receptions on six targets for 96 yards in Friday's 24-20 preseason loss to the Houston Texans. The undrafted rookie from Montana State University was called "a very realistic candidate to make this roster" by coach Sean McVay during the week. His chances must have increased after Friday. He displayed his speed and change-of-direction abilities, breaking open against rookie cornerback Derek Stingley, who was selected third overall, for 22 yards for his first catch of the game. McCutcheon still has to work on his situational awareness as he competes for a roster spot with the defending Super Bowl champions.

He led the team in all receiving categories. After four years at Montana State University, McCutcheon signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent. While at MSU, he broke out his senior season, leading the Big Sky Conference with 1,219 receiving yards, averaging 19.3 yards per catch. His big performance in his first preseason game will help him make his case as he fights for a spot on the active roster.
