New York Giants tight end Levine Toilolo (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles during Wednesday's practice and will miss the entire 2021 season. He was carted off the field and later diagnosed with a torn Achilles. The 30-year-old was mainly used as a blocking tight end last season, hauling in five catches on six targets for 46 yards over 16 games. Toilolo restructured his contract with New York during the offseason to remain with the Giants. Evan Engram and Kyle Rudolph will be the top two options at tight end in 2021 while Kaden Smith and Tommy Stevens compete for the Giants TE3 role during camp.
The New York Giants are expected to sign former San Francisco 49ers tight end Levine Toilolo, according to league sources. The Giants need all kinds of depth help at the position, but they especially need to replace the recently retired Rhett Ellison, who was primarily a blocking tight end like Toilolo. The 28-year-old caught just two passes for 10 yards in 13 games (no starts) in his lone season with the Niners in 2019. He never had more than 31 catches in his five seasons with the Falcons to begin his career. Toilolo is strictly a blocker and can be ignored in fantasy.
Levine Toilolo Returns Hauls In Four Passes Against Bills
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo caught all four of his targets for 28 yards in the loss to Buffalo on Sunday. Toilolo has been the only tight end used in this offense recently and in turn has provided the most steady play from the position all season. He's now caught 12 passes for 144 yards in his last three games. While his upside is capped because his scoring potential is low, Toilolo is gaining traction as a viable option for Matthew Stafford. However, a matchup with Minnesota' defense looms in Week 16, so Toilolo is yet again an afterthought for fantasy purposes.
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo has seen increased production the last two weeks, catching six passes for 116 yards, higher totals than the rest of his season combined. The Lions Week 15 opponent, the Buffalo Bills, have allowed the second fewest receptions to tight ends this year with 41. Combine a struggling offense and a stingy opposing defense, Toilolo is far from usable in fantasy this week.
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo hauled in both of his targets for 26 yards in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Toilolo finished second on the team in yards and tied for second in receptions, which ultimately says how rough of a day it was for the Lions offense. However, it does support a trend upward in the offense for Toilolo as he now has six reception in the last two games, a number that equals his reception total through the first 12 weeks of the season. This doesn't make the 27-year-old a fantasy relevant player but it shows that Detroit is desperate for players to make things happen. The Lions takes on the Bills in Buffalo next week.
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo had the best day of his career on Sunday, catching four passes for 90 yards. While he wasnt able to find the end zone, Toilolo was a big part of the offense, drawing six targets. With Michael Roberts (shoulder) inactive, Toilolo was Matthew Staffords preferred tight end target. This is a positive sign as the tight ends in Detroit have been irrelevant not only for fantasy purposes but just in the teams game plan. Detroit does battle with Arizona in Week 14, but the Cardinals have been solid against the position this year, so stay away from any Lions tight ends again.
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo was not targeted in Thursday's loss to the Bears. This was the sixth time this season that Toilolo wasn't looked at by quarterback Matthew Stafford. He is known as a more of blocking tight end and the Lions run game performed admirably on Thursday, but you don't get fantasy points for good blocks.
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo has been the most productive tight end in the past two weeks. Subsequently, those two weeks are when Michael Roberts (shoulder) either left or missed a game. However, that hasn't vaulted him into a fantasy producer. Known as a blocking tight end, Toilolo has hauled in both of the targets he's seen in the past two games, gaining just 29 yards total. Even at a time when the Lions are missing top receiver Marvin Jones (knee) and running back Kerryon Johnson (knee), it's hard to predict if or when quarterback Matthew Stafford will target a tight end. Toilolo should just remain on your league's waiver wire.
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo caught his only target in the Week 11 win over the Panthers on Sunday. This marks the first time this season when Toilolo has caught a pass in back-to-back weeks. Tight end Michael Roberts (shoulder) missed the game but Toilolo is more of a blocking tight end. Regardless, tight ends are heavily under-utilized in the Lions offense so it would take a severe change in philosophy to make any one of them useful for fantasy purposes. Detroit hosts Chicago on Thursday,
Detroit Lions tight end Levine Toilolo caught his only target for 12 yards in the loss to Seattle on Sunday. This is Toilolo's first reception since Week 4 and only his fourth of the season. The 27-year-old is an afterthought in the offense and nowhere near relevant in fantasy. Don't look for much, if any, production from Toilolo in Week 9 against Minnesota.
