The New England Patriots have claimed wide receiver Malcolm Perry off waivers from the Miami Dolphins. The former seventh-round pick spent the entire 2020 season with Miami. He recorded nine receptions for 92 yards in nine games, so he was mainly a depth player. Perry could be an interesting slot option for New England. Bill Belichick seems to always find a way to take mediocre talent and turn them into gems. Possibly, Perry is his next project, but fantasy managers shouldn't bother taking a look at Perry. The Patriots have too many healthy options above him right now.
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Malcolm Perry (chest) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Perry set career highs in targets (five), catches (three) and yards (23) last week, but hasn't been much of a factor in this offense this season, so his absence from this game shouldn't change much in terms of fantasy outlooks.
Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver Malcolm Perry, who was taken in the seventh round, is headed for work in the slot in his first year in the NFL. He's the only wideout on the team without an injury history as well. Perry ran a 4.63-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, but he was much quicker in the 20-yard shuttle (4.31 seconds). The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero compares Perry's size and lateral quickness to that of Wes Welker. There's sleeper potential for Perry down the road with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, but he'll be buried behind DeVante Parker, Preston Williams and Albert Wilson in 2020.
With the 246th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Navy wide receiver/quarterback Malcolm Perry. With the Midshipmen, Perry played quarterback, rushing for 2,017 yards and 21 touchdowns while throwing for 1,084 yards and seven scores last year. He had 22 catches during his college career. Perry is an interesting project who would need to learn to play the wide receiver position, but the upside here is obvious, as he was a dynamic playmaker in college who can play all over the field. Still, dont expect to see much from Perry right away.
