Former Pro Bowl defensive lineman Malik Jackson officially announced his retirement from professional football on Friday on NFL Network's Good Morning Football after a decade in the league. Jackson didn't play at all in 2022 and had 25 tackles (seven solo), half a sack, seven QB hits and four passes defensed in his final season in 2021 in 16 starts for the Cleveland Browns. He was originally a fifth-round pick out of Tennessee in 2012 by the Denver Broncos. Jackson spent the first four seasons of his career with the Broncos and won a Super Bowl ring before signing a six-year, $85.5 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He made his lone trip to the Pro Bowl with the Jags in 2017, when he had a career-high eight sacks. Jackson wraps up his 10-year NFL career with 292 total tackles (206 solo) and 35.5 sacks in 142 games (89 starts).
The Cleveland Browns agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year deal with former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Malik Jackson on Friday, according to a league source. The team also agreed to undisclosed terms with wide receiver JoJo Natson, linebacker Elijah Lee and tackle Greg Senat. Jackson, a former Pro Bowler who spent the last two years in Philadelphia, had 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2020. He made the Pro Bowl in 2017 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He's an interior defensive lineman whose specialty has been pressuring the opposing quarterback. Jackson has recorded 267 career tackles, 35 sacks, six forced fumbles and 25 pass deflections. He played in 15 games last season. Jackson will join a tackle rotation that includes Sheldon Richardson, Jordan Elliott and Andrew Billings.
Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Malik Jackson (foot) is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a Lisfranc injury in the Week 1 win over the Redskins, according to sources. Jackson will undergo surgery next week. The good news is that the Eagles defensive-line depth is their strong suit, but it's still a tough loss nonetheless. Philly's secondary proved to be an area of concern against the lowly Redskins in Week 1, so they'll be off the fantasy radar as a starting unit on the road against a Falcons team that has a plethora of offensive weapons in Week 2.
The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent defensive tackle Malik Jackson to an undisclosed three-year deal on Wednesday. Over the last four seasons, Jackson ranks ninth among defensive tackles in sacks (23) and tackles for loss (36) and has the second most passes defended (15). Although he wasn't as good in his final year in Jacksonville, Jackson has also played in 121 total games over the last seven seasons. The combination of Jackson and Fletcher Cox could make life difficult on opposing signal-callers.
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson is feeling better during organized activities after dieting in the offseason. He really came in shape, Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash said of Jackson late last week. I know he was gone for a couple weeks in Phase 1 [of the 18 offseason program] and a week in Phase 2, but he came back in shape. His weight is down." Jackson is a disruptive interior presence and had a career-high eight sacks last year. The Jags 55 sacks in 2017 was second in the NFL, and Jackson is a big reason for their rise in fantasy prominence.
