The Denver Broncos are scheduled to visit with veteran free-agent linebacker Mark Barron on Thursday, according to multiple sources. The first-round pick in 2012 was a strong safety early in his career with the Buccaneers, but he's now listed at 6-foot-2, 230 pounds. If he signs with Denver, he'd serve as an inside linebacker who can play in space, but he must first clear COVID-19 testing. The 30-year-old played in 15 games (nine starts) with the Steelers last year, recording 82 combined tackles (58 solo), one interception, three passes defensed and one fumble recovery along with three sacks. The Broncos may be looking to boost their linebacking depth with Todd Davis injured in training camp.
After his first game action all season, Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) looks to expand his role moving forward. Head coach Sean McVay said Barron responded well to his first bit of playing time, and he should be even more active this week. The Rams run defense has struggled mightily this season. While McVay indicated he wasn't too concerned, Barron's presence will certainly help alleviate some of that concern as he gets back into the flow of things in the middle. Barron should also become more relevant in IDP leagues when he's playing a full complement of snaps on D.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday, and head coach Sean McVay expects Barron to make his season debut in Week 5 against the Seahawks. Barron's return will surely help shore up the team's run defense and defense against tight ends. He will likely be eased back into a full-time role, however, so it might not be wise to immediately start him in IDP leagues. The 28-year-old has tallied 100-plus tackles in two of three seasons with the Rams and had 86 tackles a year ago in just 14 games.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) is inactive for Week 3 against the Chargers. Barron was never expected to play this weekend and might have to sit out again in Week 4. He has yet to play this season, but he is an IDP force for his tackling ability when he's active. The Rams defense/special teams will remain a strong fantasy play all season long. Rookie running back John Kelly remains a healthy scratch.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) did not practice all week and is doubtful for Week 3 against the Chargers. Barron has yet to play this year but will attempt to make it back in time for Week 4. Without him in the middle it makes the Rams weak, but they more than make up for it with their scary defensive front and ball-hawking secondary. LA's defense remains a strong play in all fantasy leagues and should be for the entire season.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said linebacker Mark Barron (Achilles) is unlikely to play in Week 3 against the Chargers. The middle of the Rams defense remains somewhat of a weakness with Barron out, but their defense/special teams remains a strong fantasy unit moving forward, even against the Chargers this weekend.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) is inactive in Week 2 against the Cardinals. Quarterback Brandon Allen and running back John Kelly are healthy scratches for this one. Barron's absence is notable after Raiders tight end Jared Cook torched them in Week 1. That sets Cardinals tight end Ricky Seals-Jones up as a sleeper low-end TE1 play on Sunday.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) is listed as doubtful to play in Week 2 against the Cardinals after missing practice on Friday. He was second on the team with 108 tackles last year and also had four tackles for loss, a sack, three quarterback hits, seven pass breakups and three interceptions. It's one of the reasons why Raiders tight end Jared Cook went off in Week 1 last Monday. Linebackers Ramik Wilson and safety Marqui Christian split time in Barron's absence last week. With Barron likely out again, Cardinals tight end Ricky Seals-Jones could be worth a play as a sleeper TE1.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron (ankle) didn't practice all week and is doubtful for Week 1 against the Raiders on Monday night. When healthy, Barron is a tackling machine and is on the IDP radar. He managed 86 tackles, a sack and three interceptions in 14 games last year and tallied 100-plus tackles each of the previous two seasons. He'll be looking to return in Week 2.
Los Angeles Rams linebacker Mark Barron returned to practice. The former safety has excelled since converting to linebacker, and he is great in coverage. He flies around the field making tackles, which makes him a great play in IDP (individual defensive player) leagues. His return can also help soften the blow of Aaron Donald's absence if his holdout extends into the regular season. Head coach Sean McVay is hoping to have him back for the start of the season. If he progresses well, he will help strengthen the Rams' defense biggest weakness, which is the linebacker position. Linebacker is the position group management did not address this offseason, so Barron will have to take that next step.
