Marquise Brown Likely Out For The Season

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) is reportedly likely going to be sidelined for the entire 2024 season. This has escalated quickly after Brown was originally only supposed to miss a game or two. Then on Friday, Brown was placed on the injured reserve because of a shoulder injury that requires surgery. That being said, Brown was expected to be out for at least four games, but was hopeful to return mid-season. Now, Brown is reportedly done for the entire season, which is a tough blow to the Chiefs offense. That means, Rashee Rice, Travis Kelce, and rookie Xavier Worthy are all going to be asked to carry a heavier workload on offense. All of them should be viable fantasy options with Brown out of the picture.

Marquise Brown Could Be Sidelined For Months

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) was placed on the injured reserve on Friday. It's a tough break for the young wideout, who will undergo surgery to repair a shoulder issue on Monday in Colorado. His placement on the IR means he'll miss at least the next four games, but Brown is likely to miss more time than that. Head coach Andy Reid said that Brown's recovery window is measured in months not weeks. That means that fantasy managers might not be seeing Brown on the field until later in the season. Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy will see increased fantasy value with Brown being sidelined indefinitely.

Marquise Brown To Have Shoulder Surgery, Going On Injured Reserve

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve on Friday. The veteran receiver suffered a shoulder injury early in the preseason. After missing the Week 1 win over the Baltimore Ravens, Brown was expected to play against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Unfortunately, he needs surgery to repair the injury. With Brown going on injured reserve, the Chiefs will be without their big-name free-agent addition for at least the next four games, if not longer. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy will continue to see an uptick in targets and snaps with Brown out of the lineup.

Marquise Brown To Miss Another Practice

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) will not practice with the team on Thursday. The Chiefs aren't ruling Brown out of their Week 2 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, but the fact that Brown has yet to practice this week doesn't give him a great chance to make his team debut this weekend. The 27-year-old suffered a sternoclavicular injury in the preseason opener and didn't play in the season-opening win last Thursday over the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs continue to say that Hollywood is making strides and getting closer to playing, but as of right now, he feels doubtful to play in Week 2. If Brown misses a second straight game, expect both Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy to see plenty of work yet again against Cincy. The Chiefs will release their final injury report on Friday.

Marquise Brown Won't Practice On Wednesday

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said in his opening statement on Wednesday that wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) will be the only player on the team that won't practice. However, Reid said it's still possible for Brown to be in uniform for his Chiefs debut in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. "He won't be out there today," Reid said. Hollywood suffered a sternoclavicular injury to his shoulder in the preseason opener in August and missed the season-opening win over the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday. The former Arizona Cardinals receiver is trending in the right direction and could play this Sunday if he can get back on the practice field on Thursday or Friday, but right now, consider him to be on the wrong side of questionable. With Brown out in Week 1, both Rashee Rice and rookie first-rounder Xavier Worthy feasted as quarterback Patrick Mahomes' primary weapons.

Marquise Brown Could Play In Week 2

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) will go through tests this week and could possibly play in Week 2 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. "We'll just see where he's at," Reid said. Hollywood suffered a sternoclavicular injury in the preseason opener and was forced to sit out last Thursday's season-opening win over the Baltimore Ravens. We'll have a better idea of whether Brown can make his Chiefs debut this Sunday when the team starts practicing again on Wednesday. Without Brown last Thursday against the Ravens, Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy were both busy, with Rice catching seven of nine targets for 103 yards and Worthy finding the end zone twice. Brown could be eased into KC's offense if he plays in Week 2, but eventually he will command plenty of attention from quarterback Patrick Mahomes and at least be in play as a WR4/flex.

Marquise Brown Expected To Return To Practice Next Week; Could Play In Week 2

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder), who will not play in Thursday night's season opener versus the Baltimore Ravens due to a sternoclavicular joint sprain suffered in the preseason opener, is expected to return to practice next week and could be in play to make his Chiefs debut in a Week 2 showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals. If Brown looks good in practices next week, there's a strong chance he will suit up next week, although he could also need one more week to heal up. The 27-year-old's fantasy stock dropped because of his injury, but it could end up making him an excellent value pick, as Hollywood figures to be one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' top targets when he's back on the field. With Brown inactive on Thursday night, look for Rashee Rice, rookie Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson to start in three-wide sets for the Chiefs.

Marquise Brown Officially Ruled Out For Thursday Night

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) will be the only player on the team listed as out for Thursday night's Week 1 regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last year's AFC Championship. Brown was never expected to play in the season opener after suffering a sternoclavicular injury in the preseason opener. The 27-year-old big-ticket free-agent acquisition has yet to return to practice and is iffy to make his Chiefs debut in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals next week. When Hollywood does return, though, he'll be one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' top targets, making him stash-worthy in all fantasy formats. Tight end Travis Kelce and receivers Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy should be the Chiefs' top three pass-catchers while Brown is sidelined.

Marquise Brown Not Practicing On Monday

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) will not practice with the team on Monday. Brown has already been ruled out for the Week 1 regular-season opener this Thursday night versus the Baltimore Ravens after suffering a sternoclavicular injury in the preseason opener that carried a four- to six-week timetable. The 27-year-old has yet to practice with the Chiefs but has a realistic shot to suit up for his Chiefs debut in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals if he's able to get back on the practice field soon. With Hollywood out this week, expect quarterback Patrick Mahomes to lean heavily on tight end Travis Kelce and receivers Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson. Even if Brown cannot make it back by Week 2, he needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats, as he'll be one of Mahomes' top targets when he returns.

Marquise Brown Could Be Ready For Week 2

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown (shoulder) will not play in the Week 1 season opener on Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens due to a sternoclavicular injury he suffered in the preseason opener. At the time of his injury, he was given a four- to six-week timetable. Although Brown hasn't resumed practicing, general manager Brett Veach said Brown is now able to laugh without pain, so there's a chance he could be back for Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals if he can get back onto the practice field soon. Hollywood was the team's big-ticket acquisition in free agency and will be one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes' top targets when he returns, but in the meantime, tight end Travis Kelce and receivers Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Justin Watson will be more involved to open the 2024 regular season.
