Jalen Hurts News
Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders said that "nobody" on the team liked the decision to bench rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts for Nate Sudfeld in the Week 17 loss to the Washington Football Team, who took the NFC East title with the win. Head coach Doug Pederson was determined to get Sudfeld some work in the game, but many players and coaches on the sidelines were "shocked and outraged," according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. Hurts was 7-for-20 for 72 yards and also ran the ball eight times for 34 yards and two touchdowns before being pulled. Sudfeld predictably struggled, tossing an interception and losing a fumble. Philly has a major decision to make under center heading into 2021. Is Hurts their guy or will they give Carson Wentz another chance? Hurts outplayed Wentz when given the opportunity, and his dual-threat ability will make him a high-end QB2 in 2021 if Wentz is out of the picture.
Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts was benched in the fourth quarter of Week 17's loss to the Washington Football Team. Before being pulled, Hurts had completed just seven of his 20 pass attempts for 72 yards and an interception. He was much more effective on the ground, rushing eight times for 34 yards and two touchdowns. Nate Sudfeld took the ball in the fourth quarter, leaving the Eagles with way more questions than answers heading into the offseason. Their QB situation will be one of the more interesting things to keep an eye on throughout the offseason.
Philadelphia Eagles rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts will get the start in Week 17 to close out the Eagles season against the Washington Football Team. With the Eagles eliminated from playoff contention after last week's loss, it wasn't immediately clear who would get the start under center, but coach Doug Pederson announced that it would be the rookie Hurts. Hurts has been a top-13 fantasy quarterback in all three of his starts, including the overall QB1 in Week 14. That's still only led to one actual win though. The Eagles will be trying to play spoiler as a Washington win will land them in the playoffs as NFC East "champions" this season. Hurts is a QB1 with upside despite a tough defense on the other side of the ball.
