Jonathan Greenard Signing Four-Year Deal With Vikings
Free-agent edge rusher Jonathan Greenard is signing a four-year, $76 million deal that includes $42 million guaranteed with the Minnesota Vikings. The 26-year-old broke out with the Houston Texans last season, posting career-highs in tackles (52), sacks (12.5), and run-stuffs (nine). The Vikings are expected to lose Danielle Hunter, so Greenard helps make up for the potential departure. The Vikings could be headed into rebuild mode after the loss of franchise quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Houston Texans defensive end Jonathan Greenard (ankle) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans. Greenard injured his ankle in last week's matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The injury took him out of that contest early and forced him to miss practice all week. The 26-year-old has 56 tackles on the season and leads the Texans with 12.5 sacks. The team will certainly miss his efforts in Week 17, as he had a great showing when the teams last faced off in Week 15, recording six tackles, 2.5 sacks, and forcing a fumble. Worse yet, Houston's remaining starters on the defensive line are all listed as questionable ahead of the must-win rematch.
Houston Texans top pass-rushing defensive end Jonathan Greenard (calf) is going on Injured Reserve after he injured his calf in practice this week, according to a source. Greenard is expected to return to the team in four to six weeks. The 25-year-old already missed the Week 5 game and wasn't ready to return this weekend after resting up during last week's bye. The third-year pass-rusher had 1.5 sacks, nine tackles (six solo), five tackles for loss and three QB hits in his four games played before land on Injured Reserve. It's a blow to Houston's defensive line and their pass rush, which is good news for the Las Vegas Raiders, who are also coming off a bye last week.
Jonathan Greenard, Cre'Von LeBlanc Ruled Out For Texans
Houston Texans defensive lineman Jonathan Greenard (foot) and defensive back Cre'Von LeBlanc (illness) have both been ruled out for Week 11 against the Tennessee Titans after coming into the game with questionable tags. The Texans defense will also be without linebacker Hardy Nickerson (concussion). Houston's defense/special teams enters Week 11 play as the No. 18 defensive unit in overall fantasy points, and fantasy managers have plenty of better options at their disposal than the Texans, even against a Titans offense that remains without running back Derrick Henry (foot).
Texans Continue To Add Defense With Jonathan Greenard
The Houston Texans have selected Florida linebacker Jonathan Greenard with the No. 90 pick in the third round. Houston continues to address their defensive concerns early in the draft. Greenard looks like the kind of player that would go in the first round, but he lacks consistency. He has a nice motor and good power along with great hand work. He collected 53 tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 10 sacks during 11 games at Florida in 2019. Greenard isn't projected to start right away, but he'll be solid depth for Houston going forward.
