Byron Young Still Improving?

Despite the fact that Los Angeles Rams outside linebacker Byron Young has already had two strong seasons in the NFL with 15.5 sacks, outside linebackers coach Joe Coniglio said he's noticed how "intentional" Young has been going into his third season in the NFL. Coniglio said he's challenged the former third-rounder to continue to work on his "consistency," because "when he's at his best, it's a lot of fun to watch." "I think he's going to take another step forward in regards to his game, his ability to affect games, his ability to disrupt offenses and be the player that he's capable of being," Coniglio said. The 27-year-old has 123 tackles (76 solo), 15.5 sacks, 20 tackles for loss, 32 QB hits, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 34 games (32 starts) in his first two years. Young is one of the Rams' key young pass-rushers.

Byron Young To Stay On Injured Reserve

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Byron Young (hamstring) will remain on Injured Reserve for their meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. It's unfortunate news for the 24-year-old, who was not activated from IR within his 21-day window. Young was designated to return from injured reserve on Jan. 8 and would practice as a full participant over the next three weeks, though he was ruled out for each contest. He'll end his campaign without logging an appearance before the hamstring injury he suffered in October, which would effectively end his year. The Alabama product was a former third-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders before finding his way to Philadelphia via waivers at the end of training camp. With the top-end talent the Eagles bolster on their defensive interior, he won't likely be more than a rotational player even when he's healthy.

Byron Young Out Again

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Byron Young (hamstring) has again been ruled out for his team's Conference Championship tilt with the Washington Commanders. The 24-year-old practiced as a full participant this week -- a trend he's continued for a few weeks now -- but still isn't healthy enough to go since injuring his hamstring in late October. Fellow defensive linemen Moro Ojomo and Jordan Davis will continue to work in behind Milton Williams and Jalen Carter. As it stands, Young has yet to log a snap for the Eagles in 2024 while battling through knee and hamstring issues. He'll wait at least one more week before making his debut.

Eagles Open Practice Window For Byron Young

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Byron Young (hamstring) has been cleared to practice and is being designated to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday. Young was a third-round selection by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 and logged just four tackles in six games as a rookie last season. He was released in August and picked up by Philadelphia but has not appeared in a game this season. The 24-year-old could provide depth for the strong Eagles' defensive line in the postseason, but it would be a surprise if he's a meaningful contributor even if he is active moving forward.
