Dallas Goedert News
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (calf) will be inactive for the team's Week 17 season finale against the Washington Football Team. Goedert suffered a calf injury in the team's Week 16 game against the Dallas Cowboys and was held out of practice this past week. With Goedert out, Zach Ertz should be in line for a big workload. The team will also be without tight end Richard Rodgers (ankle) in the game and they activated Jason Croom from their practice squad to help fill in. Goedert finishes the year with 46 catches for 524 yards and three touchdowns on 65 targets.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson (ankle), tight ends Dallas Goedert (calf) and Richard Rodgers (ankle), defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (neck) and defensive end Derek Barnett (calf) did not practice on Wednesday. Jackson returned from Injured Reserve last week and caught his only target for an 81-yard touchdown. But he played just 20 snaps on the day and should not be trusted in Week 17 in a tougher matchup with Washington. Goedert caught just three passes for 38 yards last week and was injured late in the game. He's caught 46 passes for 524 yards and three touchdowns in 11 games in 2020 and will be a low-end TE1 if he plays, but keep an eye on his status throughout the week. If he cannot play, Zach Ertz will have a much bigger role and will be a TE1. Philly's defense should be seen as a top-10 fantasy unit this week, especially if Washington quarterback Alex Smith (calf) and top receiver Terry McLaurin (ankle) cannot play.
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert ended up running fewer pass routes than Zach Ertz in Week 16, but that may have been due to a calf injury that eventually forced him to leave the game early. Goedert ended up with three catches for 38 yards in that one, and should produce more than that in Week 17 as long as he's healthy. The Washington Football Team defends very well against running backs and wide receivers, but they're ranked 17th in the league against opposing tight ends, so the Eagles may decide to run their offense through both Goedert and Ertz. Goedert remains the better fantasy option and should be a low-end TE1 with touchdown upside.
