Dontayvion Wicks a "Key Piece" to the Eagles Offense?

The Philadelphia Eagles sent fifth and seventh-round picks to the Packers back in April to acquire fourth-year wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks. At the time, the deal to send two-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown to the Patriots, which has since become official, was viewed in some league circles as a foregone conclusion, and NFL reporter Albert Breer believes that Wicks will be a major piece of the puzzle in replacing Brown's productivity. In a revamped Eagles receiver room, Wicks stands out for the size he offers over DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon, and Marquise Brown, and he has the most experience playing on the boundary, where Brown saw close to 90% of his snaps in 2025. With Lemon unable to take part in minicamp practices due to an injured hamstring, many reports had Wicks labeled as a standout and an early candidate to earn reps alongside Smith in two-receiver sets. Coming from a similarly crowded receiver room in Green Bay, Wicks has been unable to match the 581 yards of his 2023 rookie season, but with a clean slate in a new-look Philadelphia offense, Breer believes he has the ability to earn a major role, and he could become a late-round draft steal as RotoBaller's WR80.

Can Dontayvion Wicks Emerge as Anything More Than a Dynasty Depth Piece?

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks has yet to top the 39 catches or 580 receiving yards of his 2023 rookie season, but in his first season with the Eagles, he could find himself in a new role with the potential for some spike performances. While nobody will soon mistake him for the 226-pound A.J. Brown, in a receiving quartet with DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon, and Marquise Brown, Wicks is the only one to top 6'0" and 200 pounds and is the most likely candidate to inherit Brown's outside X-role. While Wicks has never taken more than 63% of his snaps on the boundary, a number closer to 90% for Brown last year, the former Packer was a player specifically targeted by the Eagles as trade talks around their own three-time Pro Bowler were heating up. Smith and Lemon are likely to have the more fantasy-friendly roles, but the soon-to-be-25-year-old Wicks is a low-cost dynasty depth piece. At RotoBaller's WR104, his value remains higher in best ball formats, but his multiple injury-related paths to increased opportunity should not be discounted.

Can Dontayvion Wicks Stand Out in Another Crowded Offense?

Eagles wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks became part of the team's new-look offense when Philadelphia sent two Day 3 picks to Green Bay to acquire him in April. The trade occurred shortly after the Eagles signed receiver Hollywood Brown to a one-year deal, and before spending first and second-round picks on Makai Lemon and tight end Eli Stowers in the 2026 NFL Draft. With the assumption that three-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown will be dealt on or after June 1st, Wicks could soon be the closest piece the Eagles have left to a prototypical X-receiver. Others on the roster have spent more time on the boundary, but few have the size or strength to consistently face press coverage. Wicks has seen his downfield usage rise over the past two seasons with the Packers, though with it, his efficiency has dropped precipitously from the 2.04 yards per route run that put him on fantasy maps as a rookie. He has yet to top his 580 receiving yards of that 2023 season, but in moving from one crowded, run-heavy offense to another, he at least now stands out physically from the rest of the room at 6'1" and 206 pounds. While it's unlikely the soon-to-be-25-year-old Wicks takes a massive step forward for fantasy, he has a chance of being a regular presence in three-receiver sets along with Lemon and DeVonta Smith, and at RotoBaller's dynasty WR103, he's at least worth holding onto until a new pecking order is established in Philadelphia.

What is Dontayvion Wicks' Dynasty Ceiling?

The Philadelphia Eagles sent fifth and sixth-round picks to acquire wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks as part of their near-total overhaul of the position. With the team expected to trade three-time Pro Bowler A.J. Brown on or after June 1st, the new look receiver room in Philadelphia now includes Wicks, incumbent DeVonta Smith, Marquise Brown, and 2026 first-round pick Makai Lemon. The Eagles also added tight end Eli Stowers in the second round of the NFL Draft after many teams were reportedly scouting him through the lens of a wide receiver. After three seasons in a crowded receiver room in Green Bay, Wicks finds himself in a similar situation in Philadelphia, but at 6'1", 206 pounds, he profiles as the most likely candidate to inherit some of Brown's snaps on the boundary. While the Packers have been one of the most run-heavy teams in recent years, the Eagles have thrown the ball at an even lesser rate, so even if Wicks can carve out a more meaningful role, his fantasy ceiling is still capped. At RotoBaller's dynasty WR104, he still belongs on rosters for what he could offer should injuries eventually condense targets in Philadelphia, but his contributions could be limited for the foreseeable future.

Dontayvion Wicks Could End Up Being Eagles WR2

If the Philadelphia Eagles trade wide receiver A.J. Brown this summer, the Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski thinks that Dontayvion Wicks would probably be the WR2 behind DeVonta Smith and over Marquise Brown. There are a lot of things working for Wicks. He is younger than Brown, the Eagles have more invested in him, he's under contract for two more years, and he seemingly already has the trust of offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. But perhaps the biggest thing that will separate Wicks from Brown in the competition for the WR2 role if A.J. Brown is traded is the fact that Wicks offers "far more" as a blocker in the running game than Brown does. Kempski thinks it will "matter a lot in this new scheme." The 24-year-old would definitely have a much higher fantasy ceiling as the No. 2 wideout in Philly, but he will also need to fix his issues with drops if he's going to take advantage of the bigger opportunity in his first year with his new team. In three years with the Packers, Wicks never had more than 39 receptions, 581 yards, or five touchdowns in his 46 games (18 starts).

Eagles Acquiring Dontayvion Wicks From the Packers

The Philadelphia Eagles are acquiring wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers on Friday in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN. Wicks will sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles. The acquisition of Wicks by the Eagles makes it even more likely that the team will trade veteran A.J. Brown after June 1, when it becomes more palatable for them for salary cap purposes. The 24-year-old Wicks, a former fifth-round pick in 2023 out of Virginia, finished the 2025 season on the sidelines due to a concussion. He played in 14 regular-season games and caught a career-low 30 passes for 332 yards and just two touchdowns. Wicks hasn't gone over 39 receptions in any of his first three years in the league, although he could have a path to a much bigger role behind DeVonta Smith in Philly if Brown is indeed traded this offseason. If Brown is traded, Wicks will compete for the WR2 role with Marquise Brown and Elijah Moore, making him slightly more intriguing as a depth WR in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Dontayvion Wicks Still Buried in Crowded Receiver Room?

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks continues to face an uphill battle to earn consistent volume ahead of the 2026 season. While the departure of Romeo Doubs in free agency initially seemed like it might lead to more opportunities for Wicks, the latest reporting indicates that 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden will benefit most from Doubs' departure. As a result, the Packers are expected to proceed with Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Golden as their top three receivers, leaving Doubs still buried in a depth role. He didn't do a whole lot to help his case in 2025, catching just 30 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns across 14 games. All of those numbers set new career lows for the Virginia product. Now 24 years old, Wicks is heading into a contract year but remains an unappealing option in most redraft and dynasty leagues.

Dontayvion Wicks is Struggling to Carve Out a Consistent Role in Green Bay

Across 14 games in 2025, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks recorded 30 receptions for 332 yards and two touchdowns on 46 targets. It was a disappointing year overall for the 24-year-old, as he posted the lowest receiving yards per game (23.7) and receptions per game (2.1) marks of his three NFL seasons. While Wicks has flashed upside at different points in his career, he's struggled to carve out a consistent role in Green Bay's equal-opportunity passing game. However, the Packers' pass-catching depth chart could get thinner in 2026. Wide receiver Romeo Doubs is set to hit free agency, and tight end Tucker Kraft (knee) could miss the start of the season as he recovers from a torn ACL. Still, Wicks would be competing with Packers wideouts Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Matthew Golden for playing time. Based on his inability to differentiate himself in 2025, Wicks' fantasy value in dynasty formats is trending in the wrong direction.

Dontayvion Wicks Ruled Out for Wild-Card Game in Chicago

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Saturday night's NFC Wild-Card matchup against the divisional-rival Chicago Bears, according to the team. Wicks suffered a concussion in the Week 17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and will now miss a second straight game. Other than a six-catch, 94-yard, two-touchdown breakout in the Thanksgiving Day win over the Detroit Lions, the 24-year-old Wicks did very little for fantasy managers in 2025 in his third year in the league. Wicks found the end zone nine times combined his first two years in the league, but he had just two touchdowns this year while catching a career-low 30 passes for 332 yards. It remains to be seen if he'll clear the league's concussion protocol to play in the Divisional Round next week if Green Bay beats the Bears.

Dontayvion Wicks Questionable to Face the Bears

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (concussion) was limited in practice all week and is considered questionable to play on Wild-Card weekend against the division-rival Chicago Bears on Saturday night, according to Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. Wicks suffered a concussion in the Week 17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and did not suit up for the Week 18 regular-season finale on Sunday versus the Minnesota Vikings. The 24-year-old still needs final clearance from an independent neurologist to play on Saturday. Already a low-floor flex option for fantasy managers, Wicks is even more risky heading into Wild-Card weekend. He was targeted 46 times during the regular season, catching 30 passes for 332 yards and only two touchdowns. If Wicks is out, both Romeo Doubs and rookie Matthew Golden will see the field more behind Christian Watson and Jayden Reed.
