Green Bay Retains Michael Clark and Geronimo Allison
The Green Bay Packers signed nine players on Tuesday that they had tendered as exclusive-rights free agents. Notable among those players are wide receivers Geronimo Allison and Michael Clark. With the departure of long-time Packer Jordy Nelson, there are tentatively a number of targets in Green Bay open for another wide receiver to grab. Allison is presumably the one who will take Nelsons place in the offense. Allison is a reliable player but is limited athletically and his ceiling as one of Green Bays primary receiving options is limited. Clark is a raw player who only recently converted to football. He is a huge target who flashed at points last year, but he is still likely some time away before being able to contribute on a consistent basis. Green Bay was aggressively pursuing wide receivers in free agency and will likely continue to pursue additional firepower at the position early in the draft. So expectations for Allison and Clark should be tempered for the time being.
Michael Clark Looking for Breakout Game in Week 17
Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Michael Clark is gearing up to have an increased role in the Packers offense in Week 17 against Detroit. The 6-foot-6 former basketball player is a very raw talent, but he has flashed in training camp and had some impressive plays in his first significant playing time in Week 16. With Green Bay likely missing two starting receivers in Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams, Clark could very well lead Green Bay in targets. Clark will be relying on quarterback Brett Hundley to get him the ball, which will temper Clarks fantasy standing. Last week, Hundley frequently missed Clark when he targeted him. However, Clark is a deep sleeper likely to exceed expectations against a respectable, although not dominant Detroit defense.
Michael Clark Impresses in First Significant Action
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Michael Clark saw his first significant usage on Saturday night against Minnesota in Week 16. He led Green Bay in targets with nine, catching three passes for 36 yards. The majority of the targets he saw were either poor passes or highly contested. Still, he managed to make some impressive grabs. The 6-foot-6 former basketball player impressed in training camp this year and spent the majority of the season on the practice squad before being moved to the roster late in the season. There was speculation that he was promoted in order to prevent another team from grabbing him. Clark does not warrant much fantasy consideration for 2018. He is an interesting name in dynasty leagues, however. Clark definitively has a higher upside than Geronimo Allison. At this point, it seems one or more of Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobbor Davante Adams may leave Green Bay in the offseason, and it may be Clark who picks up the slack.
