The Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver Michael Crabtree on Monday after he was with the club for just over a month. He was inactive for the season opener before playing 30 combined snaps in the last two games, totaling four catches on five targets for just 22 yards. The Cardinals are using four-receiver sets on 62.2 percent of their plays, and Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, Damiere Byrd and rookie Keesean Johnson have carried the group so far through three weeks. Rookie Andy Isabella and Trent Sherfield comprise the rest of the team's receiving depth.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury expects wide receiver Michael Crabtree to play in Week 2 against the Ravens. Arizona recently signed the veteran wideout, but he was a healthy scratch in the season opener while he continued to learn the playbook. If active, Crabtree figures to be fourth on the receiver depth chart, at best, behind Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk and rookie Keesean Johnson. Even with Baltimore's secondary a little banged up, Crabtree won't be anywhere near the fantasy radar as he's eased into the offense. Crabtree's presence is bad news for Damiere Byrd, Trent Sherfield and rookie Andy Isabella.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Crabtree will not play Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Look for rookies Andy Isabella and Keesean Johnson to see more work as a result. Crabtree signed with the Cardinals less than three weeks ago and more than likely needs more time understanding the playbook as well as getting into shape. Look for quarterbackKyler Murray to lean on veteran Larry Fitzgerald and second-year man Christian Kirk early in this game to develop a rhythm.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Crabtree will look to continue his career with his fourth team this upcoming Sunday. This will be the veteran's 11th season and he will be lined up as the team's No. 3 wide receiver. Crabtree gets a decent matchup, according to Pro Football Focus, but don't expect much at this point in time. The Cardinals aerial attack will be in full force, so the 31-year-old will have an opportunity to make some noise if called upon. Treat him as a desperation WR5 at this point to start the season.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Crabtree was listed as a starter in three-receiver sets on the team's official depth chart. The veteran is set to start alongside fellow veteranLarry Fitzgerald and second-year man Christian Kirk. This leaves rookies Keesean Johnson and Andy Isabella in backup roles, with Isabella taking on kickoff-return duties. It will be interesting to see whether or not head coach Kliff Kingsbury will use any four-receiver sets and how often. The big question is how much the 32-year-old Crabtree has left and whether or not he can hold off Johnson and Isabella. Treat Crabtree as a desperation flex play in deeper fantasy leagues Sunday against the Lions.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Crabtree, who officially signed with the team this past Sunday, admitted that it is going to take some time to understand the concept of head coach Kliff Kingsbury's offense. The 11-year veteran is coming off a 54-reception, 607 yards, and three-touchdown season last year with the Baltimore Ravens. Once Crabtree is comfortable with the offense and gets back into playing shape, he will be placed into a mix that includes Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, Keesean Johnson, and Andy Isabella. It is uncertain what his role will be as quarterback Kyler Murray will have plenty of mouths to feed at the wide receiver position, not to mention veteran David Johnson getting his fair share of targets as well. At this time, treat the veteran as a deep bench stash at most.
The Arizona Cardinals officially signed free-agent wide receiver Michael Crabtree to a one-year deal on Wednesday. The 31-year-old will have to prove himself to make the roster in the next two weeks, but he does offer some intrigue in head coach Kliff Kingsbury's offense if he sticks around, although he'll have to compete with rookies Andy Isabella and Keesean Johnson. Crabtree will help replace rookie Hakeem Butler (hand), who could miss the rest of the season. The veteran had 54 catches for 607 yards and three touchdowns for Baltimore in 2018. You shouldn't be drafting him in standard leagues, but keep an eye on Crabtree's role if he makes the final squad. Trent Sherfield is also in the fold as well.
The Arizona Cardinals are closing in on signing free-agent wide receiver Michael Crabtree, according to sources. The Cards released former first-rounder Kevin White on Wednesday, and it looks like Crabtree is who they'll replace him with. It remains to be seen how Crabtree might fit in head coach Kliff Kingsbury's offense behind Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk, but the veteran wideout should make Arizona's offense more versatile and give them another weapon. He had 54 grabs for 607 yards and three touchdowns last year with Baltimore in a run-first offense. Crabtree is a nice red-zone option, but he'll have to battle for targets with rookies Andy Isabella and Keesean Johnson.
Updating a previous report, the Arizona Cardinals and free-agent wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Ravens) were unable to finalize the terms of a contract and he has yet to sign. ProFootballTalk.com announced Monday that a deal was completed, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the deal fell apart on Tuesday. Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk remain the top two receivers in the desert, with rookies Hakeem Butler, Andy Isabella and Keesean Johnson fighting with Kevin White, Trent Sherfield, Damiere Byrd, Pharoh Cooper, Chad Williams, A.J. Richardson and Isaac Zico also on the roster. Perhaps a deal is still worked out with the Cards, or Crabtree lands elsewhere. Either way, avoid him for fantasy purposes for now.
Report: Michael Crabtree Signs With Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals have signed veteran wide receiver Michael Crabtree (Ravens) to a contract on Monday, sources said. The term and financial details were undisclosed. Crabtree, a Texas Tech alumni who played at Texas Tech, which is the same school Kliff Kingsbury played. The veteran wideout posted 54 grabs for 607 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Baltimore in 2018, and he has 54 career TD grabs. He is worth adding as a WR4 or WR5 in the later rounds, especially since the Cards figure to play an up-tempo game and Crabtree could see a nice bump in usage if he proves he has plenty left in the tank during the remainder of training camp and the preseason.
