Mike White News
Former New York Jets quarterback Mike White is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, worth up to $16 million. White has flashed upside in his eight games played for New York over the last two seasons but ultimately has thrown for just 2,145 yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Still, he is viewed as a top-tier backup in the NFL and this gives Miami some insurance on the often-injured Tua Tagovailoa. The team just picked up Tagovailoa's fifth-year option and he'll remain the starter, but White could be worth rostering in deep Superflex or two-QB leagues. Miami has elite weapons and Tua is likely to miss a game or two in 2023.
New York Jets impending free-agent quarterback Mike White is likely to draw interest on the open market this offseason as a high-end backup. White had his moments in 2022 after taking over for the struggling Zach Wilson, but he's injury-prone and commits too many turnovers. He has started only seven games in his NFL game, but he's averaged 308 passing yards and completed 62.1 percent of his passes in six of those starts. Former Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur preferred White as the starter over Wilson, so there's a chance the Los Angeles Rams could be interested in signing White as the backup to Matthew Stafford. The Jets will keep Wilson around for now, but they're expected to make a big splash at the position via a trade or free agency.
New York Jets quarterback Mike White (ribs) and tight end C.J. Uzomah (ankle) have both officially been ruled out for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Miami Dolphins. White is dealing with five fractured ribs after getting beat up again in the Week 17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, so he'll finish the year on the bench. Veteran Joe Flacco will get the start, with Zach Wilson backing him up. In a meaningless game for Gang Green, Flacco will be a low-end QB2 for fantasy managers. Uzomah did very little in his first year in New York, catching 21 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns while working behind Tyler Conklin all year.
