The Pittsburgh Steelers released defensive lineman Montravius Adams on Wednesday, the team announced on X. Adams spent the last four seasons with the Steelers following one season with the New Orleans Saints and four seasons with the Green Bay Packers. The former third-round pick out of Auburn in 2017 saw his playing time dramatical dip in 2024, recording zero starts after making 17 starts in the two seasons prior. Overall, the veteran has tallied 123 tackles (61 solo), 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, seven pass deflections, and 14.5 run stuffs in 96 career games. While he's unlikely to be a clear-cut starter moving forward, there are plenty of teams lacking interior defensive line depth that could be interested in his services.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are re-signing defensive lineman Montravius Adams to a two-year, $5 million deal on Tuesday, according to his agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha. Adams spent time with the Steelers (five games) and the New Orleans Saints (five games) last year, finishing with just 15 tackles (seven solo), three QB hits and two passes defensed. The 26-year-old did start four of his five games with the Steelers, however, and he'll return in 2022 to provide depth on the interior of Pittsburgh's defensive line. In his five seasons in the NFL, Adams has accumulated 59 tackles (29 solo), six tackles for loss, nine QB hits, five passes defensed, one fumble recovery and 1.5 sacks in 55 games (eight starts).

Former Green Bay Packers defensive end Montravius Adams reached an agreement with the New England Patriots on a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million on Thursday, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Adams was the 93rd overall pick in 2017 in the third round and played in 45 games (three starts) in his time with the Packers, recording 44 tackles, 1.5 sacks, four tackles for loss and six QB hits. He missed nine games in his rookie season due to a foot injury and another eight games last year with another foot ailment. Adams played in just 595 total defensive snaps with Green Bay and never played in more than 212 snaps in a season. The Patriots will be looking for Adams to continue his improvement with his run defense.
