Myles Jack News
The Pittsburgh Steelers released linebacker Myles Jack on Thursday, according to a source. It comes on the heels of Jack's third straight season of 100-plus total tackles, as he finished his lone season with the team in 2022 with 104 tackles (61 solo) and three passes defensed in 15 games (13 starts). The 27-year-old limped to the finish line last year due to a groin injury, but it can't be ignored that he's had over 100 total tackles in four of the last five seasons with the Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars. Jack had signed a two-year, $16 million deal with the Steelers prior to the 2022 campaign. His fantasy value in IDP leagues is limited because of his lack of sacks and poor coverage abilities. The former second-rounder should generate plenty of interest on the open market.
Former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack is expected to sign a two-year, $16 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a source. The addition of Jack led to the release of outside linebacker Joe Schobert, who was scheduled to count $9.7 million against the team's salary cap in 2022. Jack led the Jaguars in 2021 with 108 tackles (62 solo), and he also recorded three tackles for loss in 15 games. The 26-year-old was a former second-round pick and could form a very nice tandem with Devin Bush in Pittsburgh. Jack has 100-plus combined tackles in three of his six NFL seasons and has also tallied 6.5 sacks in 88 career games (82 starts).
After their spending spree on Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars released linebacker Myles Jack on Tuesday, according to a source. Jack led the Jaguars in tackles last season with 108 (62 solo), and he also had three tackles for loss in 15 games in Jacksonville. Outside of the tackles, though, the 26-year-old had no sacks, interceptions, passes defensed or forced fumbles despite playing in an every-down role in 2021. Releasing him only leaves behind $7.2 million in dead salary cap money. Jack has 100-plus tackles in three of his six NFL seasons, which have all come with the Jaguars, so he shouldn't have any problems attractive interest from other teams on the open market. He was a second-round pick in 2016 out of UCLA.
