Former San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman announced his retirement from football on Tuesday as a member of the 49ers. He spent eight-plus years with San Francisco after being taken 91st overall in the third round in 2010 out of Penn State. Bowman was an All-Pro four times from 2011-13 and in 2015 and made three Pro Bowls while helping the team to three straight NFC Championship games and a berth in Super Bowl XLVII. A gruesome knee injury in the 2013 playoffs was the beginning of his decline. In his career, he racked up 877 tackles, 16.5 sacks, five interceptions, nine forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries and one touchdown.
