Nick Folk News
The New England Patriots re-signed kicker Nick Folk to a two-year, $5 million extension on Monday that includes $2.19 million guaranteed. The contract has a maximum value of $5.6 million with incentives. The 37-year-old made 36 of his 39 field-goal attempts and 42 of his 47 extra-point tries in the regular season last year for a total of 150 points in 17 games. The veteran was tied with Daniel Carlson for the most fantasy points at the position last year, and he should be extremely valuable again for fantasy managers in 2022. Folk also played all of last year with a knee injury, so with better health next year, he could even be better.
New England Patriots kicker Nick Folk hasn't missed a field goal inside 50 yards since Week 1 of the 2020 season, which is a streak of 55 consecutive regular season makes. That's impressive. The 37-year-old ended the regular season as the No. 1 kicker in fantasy points. Folk made 36 of his 39 field-goal attempts (5-for-8 from 50-plus yards) and 42 of his 47 extra-point attempts in 17 games played. As such, Folk will be a popular DFS play for contests with kickers involved. However, the Bills defense was the No. 1 scoring D in the NFL this year, allowing only 17.0 points per game, which will give Folk a little more downside in the first round of the postseason, especially if the weather is nasty in Buffalo.
New England Patriots kicker Nick Folk (knee) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable to play in Saturday's wild-card game against the Buffalo Bills. Folk has been listed as questionable more times than not this year, but he hasn't missed a single game and was the most valuable fantasy kicker during the regular season. While the veteran was the most reliable option at his position all year, there's a little more reason to worry during wild-card weekend against a Bills defense that allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to the kicking position in 2021. In two games against Buffalo, Folk made two of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra points. He's probably still a top-five kicking option for the first week of the playoffs, but there's much more downside as well.
