Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said that wide receiver Penny Hart (head) was looked at and taken out of Friday night's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a concussion. Hart was targeted just once in the 13-13 tie and hit his head hard on the turf while trying to catch a pass from quarterback Taylor Heinicke. It's unclear what Hart's status is on Saturday and it remains unclear if he'll be cleared to play in the team's preseason finale on Thursday, Aug. 24, against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hart is currently off the fantasy radar while being buried on Atlanta's receiver depth chart behind Drake London, Mack Hollins, KhaDarel Hodge and others.
Former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Penny Hart, who played in 39 games over the last three years for Seattle, signed an undisclosed deal with the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday after visiting with them earlier this week. In his three years with Seattle, Hart managed to catch 11 of his 17 targets for 82 yards and no touchdowns in 39 games (zero starts). The 26-year-old former undrafted free agent will now head to Atlanta to serve as receiving depth behind Drake London, Mack Hollins and Scotty Miller. Hart will be battling with the likes of Jared Bernhardt, KhaDarel Hodge and Frank Darby for occasional offensive snaps, but he's unlikely to have a big role at all with his new team.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Penny Hart scored the team's only receiving touchdown Friday night, catching one of five targets for 35 yards in Seattle's 27-26 preseason loss. Hart finished 2021 with seven receptions for 59 yards and zero touchdowns. Although he had shallow usage (12 total targets), he was activate for every game last year and got on the field in 16 of 17 games. The 26-year-old is looking to get a spot on the 53-man roster, but he can be ignored in all fantasy formats for now.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Penny Hart hauled in two of three targets for 46 yards during Thursday's preseason loss to the Chicago Bears. This performance is an improvement on his two catches for three yards in Week 1 of the preseason. The 26-year-old is competing for a depth role after catching seven passes for 59 yards in 2021. Notably, he was active for every game last year, something not many players on the depth chart can say. At this point, it would be a surprise if Hart doesn't make the 53-man roster.
Seattle Seahawks restricted free-agent wide receiver Penny Hart signed his exclusive-rights tender and will return to the team in 2022. Hart will represent receiver depth in Seattle behind DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain and D'Wayne Eskridge, and he won't have any fantasy value. The 25-year-old caught seven of 12 targets for 59 yards and no touchdowns in 17 games (no starts) for the Seahawks last year, and he has eight catches for 62 yards and no scores on 13 targets over 30 games in his first two NFL seasons. Hart spent the vast majority of his rookie season on the practice squad after going undrafted out of Georgia State. Hart's biggest contributions will likely come on special teams.
Seattle Seahawks wide receivers Dee Eskridge and Penny Hart both suffered head injuries in the Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts and are in the league's concussion protocol. Eskridge had two carries for 22 yards and caught his only target for six yards in his first NFL game last Sunday, while didn't record any offensive stats in the contest. Both players should be considered questionable for the Week 2 home opener against the Tennessee Titans this Sunday. They'll need to pass through the league's concussion protocols in order to get onto the practice field. As of right now, DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Freddie Swain are Seattle's only healthy receivers on the active roster.
