Free-agent cornerback Pierre Desir agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday. Desir was on Seattle's practice squad back in 2016 but failed to make the team out of training camp the following season. In 73 career games with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens, he has 259 tackles, eight interceptions (one for a touchdown), three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The 30-year-old former fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2014 played in 12 games (eight starts) with the Jets and Ravens last year, recording 49 tackles (39 solo), three interceptions (one for a TD), eight passes defensed and a forced fumble.
The Baltimore Ravens officially signed free-agent cornerback Pierre Desir on Saturday. Desir agreed to a one-year, $5.5 million deal with the Jets in the offseason but didn't make it through the season with them before being cut. The 30-year-old former fourth-round pick of the Browns in 2014 had a couple solid seasons with the Colts before signing with New York for the 2020 season. Before being cut by the Jets, Desir had 47 tackles (37 solo), a career-high three interceptions (one for a touchdown), eight passes defensed and one forced fumble, so he'll add some nice depth to an already strong Baltimore secondary as they battle through a COVID-19 outbreak in Week 12. It's unclear if Desir has cleared all of the league's COVID-19 protocols, which would allow him to be active against the Steelers on Tuesday night.
The Baltimore Ravens are expected to sign former Jets cornerback Pierre Desir once he goes through the league's COVID-19 testing protocols, according to a source. Desir signed a one-year deal with the Jets for up to $5.5 million in the offseason, but the struggling cornerback was released last week. Before the 2020 season, Desir had been a three-year starter for the Colts after previously playing with the Browns and Chargers. The 30-year-old struggled in coverage with Gang Green this year, though, recording 47 tackles (37 solo), a career-high three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and eight passes defensed in nine games (eight starts). For now, he'll serve as cornerback depth for a talented Ravens secondary.
The New York Jets are releasing defensive back Pierre Desir on Tuesday. Desir signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal with the Jets in free agency after two productive seasons with the Colts. He had a career-high three interceptions in 2019 and had three picks in nine games this year with New York. However, per Next Gen Stats, Desir ranked among the league's worst cornerbacks in completion percentage allowed above expectation, allowing a completion on 74.5 percent of his targets -- 11.3 percent above expected completions. You'll want to stay far away from the Jets Defense coming off their bye in Week 11 against a Chargers offense that has been explosive at times under rookie quarterback Justin Herbert.
