The Cincinnati Bengals are expected to elevate quarterback Reid Sinnett from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster for Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams, according to a source. It will give the Bengals more depth behind Joe Burrow (calf), who has been nursing a calf issue and is questionable for Week 3, and Jake Browning. It makes us wonder, though, if this means that Burrow won't play against the Rams. However, word is that Burrow is pushing to play on Monday night despite aggravating a calf injury that kept him out for all of training camp and the preseason. Either way, fantasy managers who drafted Burrow should have already gone with a replacement in Week 3 because of his questionable status. He's going to be a game-time decision.
The Cincinnati Bengals are signing quarterback Reid Sinnett to their practice squad on Friday, according to a source. If Joe Burrow (calf) can't play on Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, Sinnett would be the backup to Jake Browning. The Bengals lost quarterback Will Grier on Friday when the New England Patriots signed him to their active 53-man roster off of Cincy's practice squad, so Sinnett will essentially replace Grier as extra QB depth. The 26-year-old Sinnett was with the Bengals in training camp this summer, so he has at least a little knowledge of their system.
Free-agent quarterback Reid Sinnett will sign with the Bengals. Cincinnati will be without Joe Burrow (calf) for "several weeks," so the team brought in Sinnett, a journeyman who has spent time with the Bucs, Dolphins, and Eagles, as well as the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL. Of course, Trevor Siemian and Jake Browning will battle for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, with the victor potentially getting a chance to start if Burrow can't get healthy in time for the regular season. That said, Sinnett agreeing to a deal isn't the biggest takeaway from this update. Instead, why the team felt compelled to add another arm is a bigger question, leaving fantasy managers to believe Burrow's condition is worse than what's being reported.
