The Houston Texans are releasing quarterback Ryan Finley on Monday after they recently signed quarterback Jeff Driskel. The Texans acquired Finley from the Cincinnati Bengals in a trade, but it was just a late-round pick swap. With Finley now gone, Houston's quarterback depth chart consists of Deshaun Watson, Tyrod Taylor, Driskel and rookie Davis Mills. But Watson is facing a potential suspension from the league due to over 20 allegations of sexual assault and misconduct during massage sessions, and he also continues to push for a trade this offseason. If Watson is suspended or traded, Taylor, Driskel and Mills could all compete for the starting job under center in Houston. Finley, 26, completed 53.1 percent of his 32 passes in five games (one start) last year for Cincy, throwing for 164 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
The Houston Texans have agreed to acquire quarterback Ryan Finley from the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday. It was initially reported that Finley was waived by the Bengals, but they will instead deal him to Houston. It's more quarterback insurance for the Texans after they signed Tyrod Taylor earlier this week. Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston, but sexual-misconduct allegations against him could complicate that storyline this offseason. Finley was a fourth-round pick by Cincinnati in 2019. He's played in just eight games (four starts), throwing for 638 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions for a completion percentage of 48.7. It's unclear what the Bengals will receive as far as trade compensation for Finley.
The Cincinnati Bengals released quarterback Ryan Finley and offensive tackle Bobby Hart on Friday to clear some salary cap space for the 2021 season. Finley was a fourth-round pick of the Bengals in 2019. In eight games (four starts) for Cincinnati, he threw for 638 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions on 58-for-199 passing (48.7 completion percentage). Hart has appeared in 79 career games (66 starts) and arrived with the Bengals in 2018. He was a seventh-round selection by the New York Giants in 2015 and started in 21 games for the G-Men before he was cut. Hart won the starting right tackle job in 2018 but finished that season with a 57.1 Pro Football Focus grade as one of the worst starting right tackles in the league. He was much better last season, but he was still a major liability along the offensive line.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley threw just 13 passes in Monday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, completing seven of them for 89 yards and a touchdown. He also added 10 carries for 47 yards and a score. The Steelers struggled to stop Finley when he decided to run, which contributed to Pittsburgh dropping their third game in a row. It was a gutsy performance from Finley, who likely earned the starting role for the rest of the season. But the low volume makes him impossible to trust as a Week 16 fantasy option as anything more than a desperation low-end QB2 in superflex leagues.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen (knee) has been ruled out of Week 15's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Allen left his Week 14 game early after injuring his knee. He did not practice all week and will be replaced at the quarterback position by Ryan Finley. While Allen has not been an effective fantasy quarterback this season, Finley shapes up as an even worse option and his presence downgrades the entire Cincinnati offense. The Pittsburgh Steelers Defense sets up as the top fantasy defense this week.
Brandon Allen Heads To Locker Room, Ryan Finley Takes Over
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Brandon Allen (undisclosed) suffered an injury after a sack in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. Allen was down on the ground for a while, then went straight to the locker room as Ryan Finley entered the game to replace him. Allen was 11-for-19 for 153 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the game before the injury.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley went 3-for-10 for 30 yards and an interception during the loss to Washington in Week 11. He also added a carry for 19 yards. The 25-year-old received his first action of the season on Sunday, and it came after rookie signal-caller Joe Burrowinjured his knee in the third quarter. With the No. 1 overall pick likely done for the year after suffering what is believed to be a torn ACL, Finley could find himself starting for the remainder of the 2020 campaign. However, outside of only the deepest of formats, the second-year man out of NC State doesn't have much fantasy value moving ahead, at least until he demonstrates consistency moving forward.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley completed just 12 of 26 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown in a loss to the Steelers Sunday. Finley didn't throw an interception but did fumble twice as the rookie continues to struggle with ball security. The rookie signal-caller doesn't have fantasy value outside of 2QB leagues, but does have a good matchup next week against a banged-up Jets secondary giving him some appeal in DFS tournaments.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley has a tough matchup against a Steelers Defense that has played well recently. The rookie has struggled in his first two starts in the league, throwing two interceptions and only one touchdown to go along with a miserable 47.5 completion percentage. Finley will have to limit his turnovers, including fumbles, if fantasy managers are to have any shot at getting something out of the 24-year-old on Sunday. If you have him in your fantasy lineup for some reason, don't expect much, especially with the team down a few guys on the offensive end. Anticipate Finley's involvement to be minimized as much as possible, leaving Joe Mixon to do most of the work on the ground in Week 12.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley completed just 13-of-31 passes for 115 yards and an interception in Week 11 against the Raiders. He also lost a fumble and was sacked five times. He managed to rush for 47 yards in the game, which helps make his day look a little better, but it was still a rough day all around to put it nicely. The Bengals' offense is in a tough spot right now and they have an even tougher matchup lined up against the Steelers in Week 12.
