Free-agent offensive lineman Ryan Kalil has come out of retirement to sign an undisclosed contract with the New York Jets. The former five-time Pro Bowler was considered one of the game's best in his time with the Carolina Panthers. At 33 years old there may be some questions about Kalil's current conditioning status, but adding a talented veteran is huge for a young Jets offense. This addition instantly boosts the fantasy value of quarterbackSam Darnold and running backLe'Veon Bell.

Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 5 win over the Giants, but there has been no further update from head coach Ron Rivera. Also, linebacker Thomas Davis is returning from his suspension in time for Week 6 against the Redskins. The Panthers have dealt with enough injuries to key players on their offensive line already this year, so they can ill-afford another one. Davis was one of the better all-around linebackers in his prime, but the 35-year-old is expected to be a rotational player the rest of the year, limiting his IDP value severely.
