Former Chicago Bears running back Ryan Nall signed an undisclosed deal with the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, according to his agent, Sam Leaf. Nall will provide depth in Dallas' backfield behind Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, and he will have zero fantasy appeal to begin the 2022 season. The 26-year-old had a total of six carries for 12 yards and caught nine of 10 targets for 71 yards and one touchdown in 33 games (no starts) over his three seasons with the Bears. Nall entered the league in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State.
The Chicago Bears have waived running back Ryan Nall. The 25-year-old caught eight passes for 67 yards with one touchdown last season but is known mostly for his solid play on special teams. The Bears have now cut a player who they have counted on the last two seasons on special teams (Nall) and a rookie who was ear marked to return punts (Dazz Newsome). If Nall clears waivers, he could be re-signed by the Bears for their practice squad.
The Chicago Bears cut running back Ryan Nall on Tuesday. The 25-year-old out of Oregon State saw a lot of action for the team last year, but didn't do much that showed up on the box score. He played in all 16 games in 2020, but only rushed three times for zero yards while catching eight of his nine targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. David Montgomery is set to be the Bears' No. 1 back once again this year. Damien Williams will serve as his backup with rookie Khalil Herbert as the No. 3 back to open the year. Tarik Cohen (knee) will also factor into the equation once he's able to return. He's currently on the PUP list while recovering from his torn ACL last year.
The Chicago Bears re-signed running back Ryan Nall to an undisclosed deal on Thursday. In his second season with the Bears in 2020, Nall had 67 yards and a touchdown on just 11 touches (three carries, eight receptions) in 16 games. He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent next month, but he'll remain in Chicago for the 2021 season as depth behind David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen. The 25-year-old went undrafted out of Oregon State before signing with the Bears, and he has just five carries for eight yards and eight catches for 67 yards and one touchdown in his first two NFL seasons. It would take several injuries in Chicago's backfield for Nall to see a significant boost in playing time.
Chicago Bears running back Ryan Nall has been released by the team. Nall was climbing an uphill battle to begin with as the backfield depth chart already featured Mike Davis, David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen. Nall flashed some promising moments during the preseason, including a fantastic 69-yard run against the Colts in the third preseason game. Nall could be added to the Bears practice squad after he clears waivers.
Chicago Bears running back Ryan Nall racked up 44 total yards from scrimmage in the Bears preseason loss to the Giants. Nall caught four passes for 21 yards and added 23 rushing yards on seven carries. It was an unspectacular effort but Nall is seeing a steady amount of playing time in the preseason. Nall is auditioning not just for the Bears but the rest of the NFL in the final two preseason games.
