Ryan Santoso News
The New York Giants are bringing aboard kicker Ryan Santoso ahead of Sunday's preseason finale against the Jets with Graham Gano (concussion) sidelined. The 6-foot-5 Santoso inks the deal on his 27th birthday, reuniting him with the franchise after having been originally signed to the practice squad in 2020. Santoso has appeared in seven games over the past three years with Tennessee, Carolina and Detroit, primarily as a kickoff specialist. He has gone 4-for-5 on field goal attempts in that time, but he has yet to knock through a kick longer than 35 yards. The Giants have more than two weeks for Gano to clear concussion protocol and take the field against the Titans; the veteran is currently on the fence of fantasy viability, rostered in nearly half of all leagues, per ESPN.
The Jacksonville Jaguars waived kicker Ryan Santoso on Tuesday. After also waiving Elliott Fry with an undisclosed injury, the Jaguars now have no kickers on their current roster. Santoso was in line to be the starting kicker to open the regular season, but that won't be the case now. Expect Jacksonville to bring in a couple kickers very soon, but they won't be on the fantasy football radar at all. Santoso went 4-for-5 on his field-goal tries in 2021 in four games last year with the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers, but he also missed two of his eight extra-point opportunities.
The Tennessee Titans waived kicker Ryan Santoso from their practice squad on Monday. Santoso landed in Tennessee after being waived by the Carolina Panthers after he missed an extra point in the Week 1 win over the New York Jets. The 26-year-old has just two field-goal attempts in the NFL, but he's made both of them. Apparently the Titans are happy (for now) with Randy Bullock, who made four of his five field goals and all three of his extra points in the 33-30 Week 2 overtime win over the Seattle Seahawks. The Titans have the ability to rack up points with all the weapons in their offense, which will make Bullock a streaming option in the right matchups, but he'll have to continue making kicks to avoid being cut himself.
