Stephen Morris Cut

Texans Claim Stephen Morris Off Waivers

The Houston Texans claimed quarterback Stephen Morris off waivers from the Seahawks on Monday, according to a source. Morris has yet to take a snap in a regular season game in the NFL. He's not a lock to make the final roster with Brandon Weeden and Joe Webb also competing for the backup role to Deshaun Watson.

Seahawks Sign Stephen Morris

The Seattle Seahawks signed free-agent quarterback Stephen Morris on Friday to add depth behind Russell Wilson, according to multiple national media reports. This comes a day after the team postponed a planned visit with free-agent QB Colin Kaepernick. Morris has never played in a regular season game in the NFL but has been with the Eagles, Jaguars, Colts and Redskins in recent seasons. Morris won't even have much fantasy value if Wilson is injured and he's forced into action in 2018. Seattle could further address the position in the draft.

Stephen Morris Could Get First-Team Snaps on Saturday

After a disastrous preseason thus far for the Indianapolis Colts first-team offense (especially quarterback Scott Tolzien), Stephen Holder of the Indy Star reports that the consensus in the Colts media room is that third-year quarterback Stephen Morris has a good chance of working with the starters when the team faces the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. Although this report is mostly speculation from how Chuck Pagano described Morris, it's a win-win situation for the team if he gets a shot to play with the starters. If he ignites a spark in the offense, he might end up being the answer at quarterback until Andrew Luck returns. If he shows that he's not ready, it may be time for the team to sign a veteran presence. At the end of the day, the only quarterback who can make Colts' offensive players fantasy relevant is Andrew Luck.
