The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent wide receiver Tajae Sharpe to their practice squad on Monday, according to a source. The six-year veteran worked out for the 49ers last week and had 25 catches on 37 targets for 230 yards and no touchdowns in 15 games (seven starts) for the Atlanta Falcons last year. In his five years in the NFL, Sharpe has 117 receptions on 205 targets for 1,397 yards and eight touchdowns in 66 games played. The 27-year-old can continue to be left on the waiver wire in all leagues as he serves as receiving depth for the Niners behind Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, Ray-Ray McCloud III and rookie Danny Gray.
Free-agent wide receiver Tajae Sharpe agreed to a one-year contract with the Bears on Wednesday night. Sharpe, a 2016 fifth-round pick, began his career in Tennessee, where he spent his first three active seasons before landing in Minnesota and, most recently, Atlanta. However, he hasn't done much throughout his tenure in the league, compiling only 117 catches for 1,397 yards and eight touchdowns. He also dealt with a foot injury that kept him out the entire 2017 campaign. Nonetheless, the 27-year-old will not only have competition for looks, but he'll also be catching throws from Justin Fields, a quarterback who is still developing. As a result, Sharpe likely won't do much for fantasy managers, so it's best he remains undrafted in all formats.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe has been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, further complicating his return to action after missing Week 16 due to a foot injury. Without Sharpe (and Calvin Ridley) in the mix, Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus have taken over the top two wideout roles, while Kyle Pitts remains a passing game focal point. While Sharpe has been on the field for at least 55 percent of the team's offensive snaps in each of the last eight games that he has been active, that hasn't translated into fantasy-relevant performances; Sharpe has more than three receptions in just one of those outings, with zero touchdowns for the year. With multiple hurdles to clear before returning to game action, in addition to a matchup against a stout Bills defense in Week 17, Sharpe can remain on the waiver wire for all season-long finals contests.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe (foot) has been deemed doubtful to play in Sunday's game against Detroit due to a foot injury. Sharpe missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, with his ailment not progressing after leaving the Week 15 matchup early. The 27-year-old has seen a considerable snap count with Calvin Ridley (personal) not in the mix, but it hasn't translated to on-field results; through 14 games, Sharpe has accumulated just 25 catches for 230 yards. Since entering the starting lineup with consistency back in Week 9, Sharpe has yet to exceed three catches in any outing. Without him on the field, Olamide Zaccheaus and Christian Blake stand to see a higher target share, while Kyle Pitts and Russell Gage stand out as Matt Ryan's top pass-catching options.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe (foot) missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Sharpe was listed as day-to-day on Wednesday, but he's not on the right track to play in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions after he was injured in the Week 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Even as the No. 2 receiver next to Russell Gage with Calvin Ridley still on personal leave, it hasn't translated to much production for Sharpe. The 27-year-old has no touchdowns on the year and hasn't gone over five receptions or 58 yards in any one game in Atlanta's lackluster offense. If Sharpe is inactive in Week 16, Christian Blake and Olamide Zaccheaus would be vying for the No. 2 receiver role against Detroit.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe (foot) is considered day-to-day but will not practice on Wednesday. Sharpe left the Week 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and never returned to the contest. He was unable to haul in his only target before suffering the injury. The 26-year-old has been operating as the No. 2 receiver behind Russell Gage, but it hasn't amounted to much in terms of targets or production. In his last five games, Sharpe has totaled eight receptions on 15 targets for 60 yards and no touchdowns. The Falcons offense just cannot support more than one fantasy relevant pass-catcher. If Sharpe cannot play in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions, Olamide Zaccheaus and Christian Blake would battle for No. 2 duties.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe is not a viable play in Week 10 against Dallas. Sharpe will see a larger role with Calvin Ridley (personal) currently out, but that doesn't mean he will produce. The 26-year-old will be fighting for targets with Kyle Pitts, Russell Gage, and RB Cordarrelle Patterson, all of whom are higher on the receiving depth chart than him. On top of that, Sharpe has been inconsistent as he posted five receptions for 58 yards on six targets in Week 8 to only one reception for 12 yards on one target in Week 9. There are better flex options to start than Sharpe.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe caught just one pass for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-25 win over New Orleans. Sharpe was coming off producing 50-plus yards in two of his last three games- so it was disappointing to see him targeted just one time against a beatable Saints secondary. The 26-year-old is too up-and-down to trust for fantasy purposes, as he doesn't have a steady role in the offense.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe could see more playing time against the Saints in Week 9 with Calvin Ridley (personal) away from the team. Sharpe is coming off of his best effort of the season, a five-catch, 58-yard game, giving him two 50-plus yard games in his last three contests. New Orleans has a fearsome pass rush but has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to wideouts this season. Sharpe could be in line for a solid game against the Saints and deserves some flex consideration in deeper formats.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Tajae Sharpe finished with five receptions for a team-leading 58 yards on six targets in Sunday's loss to the Panthers. The receiver now has at least five targets and 53 yards in two of the past three games. The Falcons are now very thin at wideout with Calvin Ridley stepping away from the game at the moment. Sharpe could see a bigger role going forward and there are plenty of targets to be gobbled up. For now, it's best to wait and see his numbers before starting him.
