Taywan Taylor, Damion Ratley Among Cleveland Roster Cuts
The Cleveland Browns parted ways with wide receivers Taywan Taylor and Damion Ratley in roster cutdowns on Saturday morning. Taylor spent one season with the Browns after being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2017 draft. He was a popular fantasy sleeper at one time but he was never able to translate the hype into production on the field. Taylor drew just one target in three games with Cleveland in 2019. Ratley was a sixth-round draft pick by Cleveland in the 2018 season and caught 25 passes for 344 yards and a touchdown in 26 games. Both will look to catch on with other clubs, although they may have to settle for a spot on a team's practice squad.
The Cleveland Browns acquired Taywan Taylor from the Tennessee Titans on Saturday. In return, Cleveland will send an undisclosed 2020 draft pick to the Titans. Taylor wasn't going to make the final roster after the Titans signed Adam Humphries and drafted A.J. Brown. Taylor can probably slot in as the WR4 behind Rashard Higgins moving forward. Once a well-regarded prospect, Taylor has a bit to prove at the NFL level.
Taywan Taylor Plays Exclusively With Third String In Week 3
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor played exclusively with the third-string offense in the preseason Week 3 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Taylor, who was once projected to be a starter this season, has fallen down the depth chart with a poor training camp. It is now very possible that Taylor is cut by the Titans before the start of the season should they decide to keep just five receivers. Taylor's ineffective play has opened up a door for rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown to have an early impact in the 2019 season.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor was listed as the team's third receiver ahead of Tajae Sharpe on the first unofficial depth chart of training camp on Monday. Sharpe was listed on the second team with Cody Hollister and Darius Jennings. Taylor will still need to continue being sharp in practice as well as preseason games if he wants to keep his solid standing on the depth chart behind Corey Davis and Adam Humphries. For now, target Taylor as more of a WR6 with some upside in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.
Titans Looking For More From Taywan Taylor In 2019
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor has shown flashes in his first two seasons in the NFL, but he has yet to deliver the consistency that the Titans have been hoping for from him. He finished 2018 with 37 receptions for 466 yards and a single touchdown as the team's second option in the passing game. Despite the hopes of the coaching staff, it is unlikely that Taylor will deliver any more production than that going forward with a growingly crowded receiving corps in Tennessee. The Titans not only added rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown and free agent Adam Humphries, but will also get tight end Delanie Walker back from injury. As the apparent fifth option in an underwhelming passing attack, Taylor is not on the fantasy radar going into the 2019 season. His only value lies in dynasty formats, where he makes for an interesting flier in deep leagues.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor (foot) practiced in full on Wednesday. Taylor hasn't played since injuring himself on Monday night against the Cowboys on Nov. 5, but he appears on track to return in Week 13 against the Jets. Taylor has 21 catches for 214 yards and a touchdown this year and isn't on the fantasy radar on a run-first squad.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor (foot) is inactive on Monday night against the Texans despite practicing on a limited basis last week. Running back David Fluellen (knee) is also out. Taylor hasn't played since injuring himself against Dallas on Nov. 5. He wasn't much of a fantasy factor to begin with and should remain on the waiver wire. Corey Davis and Tajae Sharpe remain the team's top two wideouts with Taylor out, but only Davis is worth using in starting lineups. Darius Jennings and rookie Cameron Batson will rotate as the third wideout.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor (foot) remains out of practice for the second straight day on Thursday. Taylor sat out in Week 10 and doesn't look close to returning after injuring himself in Week 9. He wasn't a fantasy factor to begin with and remains on the waiver wire. In his absence, Corey Davis and Tajae Sharpe should see more targets in the passing game in Week 11 against the Colts.
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Taywan Taylor (foot) did not practice on Wednesday. Taylor missed the Week 11 win over the Patriots and doesn't seem to be on track to return this weekend against the Colts. If he sits out for the second straight game, it'd be good news for Corey Davis and Tajae Sharpe. Taylor should be left to the waiver wire in most leagues.
Taywan Taylor and Tajae Sharpe Both Questionable For Week 10
Tennessee Titans wide receivers Taywan Taylor and Tajae Sharpe are both officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. While neither are largely fantasy relevant themselves, the absence of both of them would be a serious blow to this offense. Marcus Mariota is going to need all of his weapons available to him in order to be able to attack this Patriots defense effectively. The Titans already have one of the weakest receiving cores in the league and further depletion of it will ensure that Mariota is all but unstartable in Week 10.
