Travis Frederick Hangs Up His Cleats

Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick announced on his Twitter account on Monday that he is retiring from football after seven years and six seasons in the league. Frederick started every game from 2013 to 2017 and earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2016 while also making five Pro Bowls, including four from 2014-17. He was unfortunately diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome in 2018, an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body's nervous system. It caused him to miss all of 2018, but he returned last season and earned his fifth Pro Bowl honors. As a result of the disease, he's retiring at just 29 years old.

Travis Frederick is "Ready to Go" for Training Camp

Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick will not need to be placed on the Active/PUP list to begin training camp. Frederick missed all of the 2018 season because of Guillain-Barre Syndrome but is now "ready to go" according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. The Dallas offensive line took a noticeable step back without Frederick anchoring the middle of it, so his presence should be a boost for the entire Cowboys offense, but especially for running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott.

Travis Frederick Being Placed On IR

The Dallas Cowboys will place center Travis Frederick (illness) on Injured Reserve to make room for defensive tackle David Irving on the active roster, according to a source. It's another blow to an offensive line that has been in decline. Joe Looney is expected to continue manning the center spot for Dallas moving forward.

Travis Frederick Could Miss Several Weeks

Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and it could reportedly cost him "multiple weeks of the season." Frederick was originally thought to be dealing with stingers, but it turns out he also has a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness. It is treatable, but there is no timetable for Frederick's return at this point. Joe Looney seems to be the next guy up at center and should be starting for the Cowboys in Week 1.

Travis Frederick Dealing With Stingers

Dallas Cowboys center Travis Frederick (neck) will miss a few practices and will not play in the second preseason game due to stingers in his neck. Frederick actually visited a specialist on Wednesday to confirm that he was suffering only from stingers and from nothing more serious. "Everything is good other than the stingers," said Frederick. Assuming no other setbacks, the veteran center should be good to go for Week 1.
