Trayveon Williams Expected To Practice This Week

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (ankle) is almost ready to return from the right-ankle injury that he suffered 15 days ago, and he expects to return to training camp practice this week. Williams was in a walking boot after his injury but is now out of it and should return to the field soon, which will give him enough time to work his way into shape for Week 1 of the regular season. When healthy, the 25-year-old will compete with Chris Evans and rookie Chase Brown for the backup gig behind starter Joe Mixon in 2023. Williams had only six carries and two catches in 2022, so it's probably going to take an injury or two for him worthy of a waiver-wire pickup in fantasy leagues.

Trayveon Williams Expected To Miss Several Weeks

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (ankle) is expected to miss a couple of weeks after spraining his right ankle in a training camp practice on Tuesday, according to a source. Williams entered camp as the top option to be Joe Mixon's backup in 2023 after Samaje Perine joined Denver in the offseason. With Williams sidelined the next couple of weeks, rookie Chase Brown and Chris Evans will see more work in camp and the preseason behind Mixon. The 25-year-old Williams could still be ready in time for the start of the regular season, so he should still be considered the primary backup and handcuff in fantasy to Mixon.

Trayveon Williams Suffers Mild Ankle Sprain

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams likely suffered a mild ankle sprain during practice on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Williams is expected to miss a couple of weeks, which could give rookie Chase Brown a leg up on the No. 2 running back role behind Joe Mixon. Neither Williams nor Brown project as anything more than a handcuff in redraft leagues.

Trayveon Williams Goes Down With Leg Injury

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (leg) went to the ground during Tuesday's training camp practice and received attention from the team's medical staff. It's unclear what the specific injury is just yet, but it's a situation worth monitoring. Williams has reportedly been in the running for the RB2 job behind Joe Mixon, and an extended absence would mean rookie Chase Brown and veteran Chris Evans would see additional reps at camp.

Trayveon Williams Could Have Key Role In 2023

During post-draft press conferences, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor and offensive coordinator Brian Callahan repeatedly brought up running back Trayveon Williams when asked about Samaje Perine's replacement this year. Williams re-signed a one-year deal with the Bengals in March, and with Joe Mixon's tenuous situation, he could have a sizeable role in 2023 in a potent Bengals offense. Cincinnati also has Chris Evans and rookie Chase Brown at the position. Williams has averaged 5.1 yards per carry on 47 rushing attempts in the last three years and could be worth handcuffing to Mixon in fantasy drafts this fall. The 25-year-old is certainly one to watch this summer.

Bengals Have High Hopes For Trayveon Williams

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said signing a running back in free agency this offseason is a "possibility," but he also likes the progress of running back Trayveon Williams, who recently re-signed with the team. "We have high hopes for him. He understands what it takes to compete in this league," Taylor said. The Bengals also have Chris Evans, who is entering his third year. Ezekiel Elliott and Kareem Hunt remain on the open market, but it sounds like the Bengals don't necessarily feel the need to sign them. As things currently stand, Williams is the direct backup to Joe Mixon in Cincy. The 25-year-old former sixth-round pick in 2019 has just 47 carries for 238 yards and no touchdowns in his four NFL seasons, adding eight catches for 64 yards in 34 games. However, he could be looking at a more prominent role in 2023.

Trayveon Williams Active Over Chris Evans In Week 14

Cincinnati Bengals running back Chris Evans is a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. Trayveon Williams will be active in his place, operating as Cincinnati's No. 3 back behind Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine. Williams has impressed on special teams as of late, which likely explains why he is active over Evans. Despite rising up the depth chart, the 25-year-old belongs on waivers in most leagues.

Bengals Bringing Back Trayveon Williams

The Bengals re-signed running back Trayveon Williams on Friday. The team parted ways with the 24-year-old only a few days ago to make three waiver claims. Yet, he will now rejoin the club that drafted him back in 2019. Williams has accumulated only 208 yards off 41 carries throughout his three seasons in Cincinnati. He's expected to remain behind Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine, and Chris Evans on the depth chart and will likely spend most of his time on special teams. However, he offers nothing to fantasy managers, which is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Trayveon Williams Leads Team In Rushing On Saturday

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams had a team high-seven carries for 22 yards during the preseason clash against the Rams on Saturday night. He also showed off his pass-catching prowess, securing all four of his targets for 40 yards. Williams was drafted in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft and will be entering his fourth season with the team. With that said, he hasn't offered much of anything to fantasy managers throughout his career. If the 24-year-old makes the team, he is forecasted to remain behind Samaje Perine, Chris Evans, and of course, Joe Mixon on the depth chart, so his fantasy attractiveness is non-existent.

Trayveon Williams Injured Again

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams suffered a foot injury during Thursday's win over the Washington Redskins. The rookie has been unable to remain injury-free this preseason as he suffered a rib injury during last Saturday's encounter with the Kansas City Chiefs. With running back Jordan Ellis performing at a high-level throughout the first two unofficial games of the year, Williams will need to remain healthy before he can be truly declared the No. 3 option behind Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard. Keep an eye on his status over the next day or so.
