Browns Sign Trayveon Williams Off Chargers' Practice Squad

The Cleveland Browns have signed running back Trayveon Williams off the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi notes that Williams spent training camp with Cleveland, so he and the team have familiarity with each other. The Browns were in the market for running back help after placing veteran back Jerome Ford (shoulder) on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury. Williams appeared in just three games for the Chargers this season, recording three carries for negative one yard. The 28-year-old has played in 71 career games across seven NFL seasons, recording 280 scrimmage yards on 81 touches. In Cleveland, Williams figures to play a depth role behind Browns running backs Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, and Raheim Sanders.

Amar Johnson, Trayveon Williams Elevated for Week 11

Los Angeles Chargers running backs Amar Johnson and Trayveon Williams have been elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 11 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The two backs will join the roster to serve as depth for Kimani Vidal. Neither player has taken offensive snaps this season, but that might change this weekend. Williams has at least been on the field, but solely playing on special teams. There's a chance they do see a few touches, but it shouldn't be enough to warrant rostering in any fantasy formats. Vidal is going to be the workhorse back, so those two were just brought up as depth.

Patriots Sign Trayveon Williams

Per the team, the New England Patriots have signed running back Trayveon Williams to an undisclosed contract. New England also released defensive lineman Eric Johnson II. The veteran back spent the first six seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals after linking up with the team in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The 27-year-old will join a running back room consisting of Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, and second-round rookie TreVeyon Henderson. Williams is likely to have little impact regarding the ground game, considering he has 62 career carries in 69 games. However, he did appear in all 17 contests last season for Cincinnati on special teams, so he could occupy a role there for New England.

Trayveon Williams Leads All Runners On Thursday

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams led the way in the preseason loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He didn't do much in Cincinnati's first two exhibitions. However, the 26-year-old finished Thursday's contest by totaling a game-high 66 rushing yards off 11 carries, adding five catches for 11 yards. Williams, the No. 182 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has spent his entire career with the Bengals. Yet, he's been limited to only 62 touches in 40 career games. With Williams behind Zack Moss and Chase Brown on the depth chart, his workload isn't expected to increase this season. As a result, managers won't look in his direction in most fantasy drafts, although there is streaming potential if Moss or Brown get hurt. The Bengals will begin the 2024-25 campaign with a Week 1 visit from the New England Patriots.

Trayveon Williams Has A Decent Showing Versus Chicago

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams had six carries for 22 yards in Saturday's loss to the Chicago Bears. He added two catches for 19 yards. Cincinnati rested most of the starters on offense, opening the door for others to get involved. While Williams wasn't as productive on the ground as Noah Cain, it likely won't impact his place on the depth chart heading into the 2024-25 campaign. With that said, as long as Zack Moss and Chase Brown are healthy, Williams probably won't get enough snaps to make him a viable fantasy option.

Trayveon Williams Expected To Practice This Week

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (ankle) is almost ready to return from the right-ankle injury that he suffered 15 days ago, and he expects to return to training camp practice this week. Williams was in a walking boot after his injury but is now out of it and should return to the field soon, which will give him enough time to work his way into shape for Week 1 of the regular season. When healthy, the 25-year-old will compete with Chris Evans and rookie Chase Brown for the backup gig behind starter Joe Mixon in 2023. Williams had only six carries and two catches in 2022, so it's probably going to take an injury or two for him worthy of a waiver-wire pickup in fantasy leagues.

Trayveon Williams Expected To Miss Several Weeks

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (ankle) is expected to miss a couple of weeks after spraining his right ankle in a training camp practice on Tuesday, according to a source. Williams entered camp as the top option to be Joe Mixon's backup in 2023 after Samaje Perine joined Denver in the offseason. With Williams sidelined the next couple of weeks, rookie Chase Brown and Chris Evans will see more work in camp and the preseason behind Mixon. The 25-year-old Williams could still be ready in time for the start of the regular season, so he should still be considered the primary backup and handcuff in fantasy to Mixon.

Trayveon Williams Suffers Mild Ankle Sprain

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams likely suffered a mild ankle sprain during practice on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Williams is expected to miss a couple of weeks, which could give rookie Chase Brown a leg up on the No. 2 running back role behind Joe Mixon. Neither Williams nor Brown project as anything more than a handcuff in redraft leagues.

Trayveon Williams Goes Down With Leg Injury

Cincinnati Bengals running back Trayveon Williams (leg) went to the ground during Tuesday's training camp practice and received attention from the team's medical staff. It's unclear what the specific injury is just yet, but it's a situation worth monitoring. Williams has reportedly been in the running for the RB2 job behind Joe Mixon, and an extended absence would mean rookie Chase Brown and veteran Chris Evans would see additional reps at camp.
