Troy Pride Could Earn Starting Snaps For Panthers Defense
Carolina Panthers rookie cornerback Troy Pride showed out in practice on Friday with multiple pass breakups while also helping to force an interception. Pride even earned praise from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. James Bradberry is no longer in Carolina, so Pride could earn snaps across from Donte Jackson in the team's secondary in 2020. The Panthers spent all of their draft picks on the defensive side of the ball this year as they look to rebuild with linebacker Luke Kuechly retiring, so it'll be a work in progress, especially in the tough NFC South. Their run defense from a year ago can't be much worse, but you should avoid them in fantasy.
The Carolina Panthers have selected Notre Dame cornerback Troy Pride Jr. with the No. 113 selection in the fourth round. Carolina desperately needed help at defensive back and are immediately addressing it in the early rounds. Pride has spent each of the last four years at Notre Dame, and while his numbers don't blow you away, he is a solid player. He has the athleticism and speed of a first-round pick. Pride finished with 40 tackles and one interception through 12 games in 2019. He likely won't see a lot of playing time in 2020, but he'll be nice depth for Carolina.
