Ravens Releasing Tyus Bowser

In another move to create salary cap savings this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens are releasing veteran outside linebacker Tyus Bowser (knee) on Wednesday, according to sources. The move will create around $5.5 million of salary cap space for 2024. The 28-year-old didn't play at all last year due to a knee injury and has played in just nine games for Baltimore in the last two years. Bowser has been a bust since the Ravens took him in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft out of Houston. In his six years played in the NFL, he has 152 tackles (93 solo), 19.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, 48 QB hits, four interceptions and a forced fumble in 89 games (23 starts). If Bowser can prove he's healthy and past his knee and Achilles issues, he could play a rotational role on defense with another team in 2024.

Tyus Bowser Could Be Salary Cap Casualty

The Baltimore Ravens need to create some salary cap space this offseason, which could lead to some cost-cutting moves, and linebacker Tyus Bowser (knee) is the most likely cap cut. Veterans like offensive tackles Morgan Moses and Ronnie Stanley and fullback Patrick Ricard could also be involved. The 28-year-old Bowser spent all of last year on the Non-Football Injury list due to a mysterious offseason knee injury. When healthy, Bowser has been a solid player for the Ravens, but he's missed 27 games over the last two seasons due to injury. The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec writes that creating $5.5 million in salary cap space by cutting Bowser feels like a no-brainer move for the team.

Tyus Bowser Activated From Injured Reserve

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tyus Bowser (Achilles) has been activated from the injured reserve. The 27-year-old returned to practice on October 12th, so he has been getting back into game shape. Last season, Bowser led the team with sacks and tackles for loss before suffering a torn Achilles in Week 18. His return to the field should be a boost for the Ravens defense. The Baltimore linebacker group is getting stronger with Bowser back and recently acquired Roquan Smith joining the team. Bowser has a chance at playing in Week 9, but the team will likely wait and see how he feels during practice.

Tyus Bowser Placed On PUP List

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tyus Bowser (Achilles) has been placed on the reserve/PUP list. That means, Bowser will miss the first four weeks of the regular season. The 27-year-old suffered the injury during Week 18 of last season. Head coach John Harbaugh mentioned that Bowser should be ready for training camp, but clearly that didn't happen. This is certainly a blow to the Ravens defensive unit. Last season, Bowser finished with 59 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and seven sacks through 17 games. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect the Ravens defense to fall apart, but losing Bowser does hurt.

Tyus Bowser Expected To Be Ready For Training Camp

Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Tyus Bowser (Achilles) tore his Achilles in the Jan. 9 regular season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but head coach John Harbaugh thinks he'll be back for training camp next month. "I think Tyus will be back for the start of the season. I think Tyus will be back for training camp. That's my prediction. That's my timeline, so I'm going to stick with that," Harbaugh said back on Jan. 31. Bowser showed up for the start of the offseason program without a boot on his foot or an obvious limp, but he's still only about 5 1/2 months removed from surgery, and the timetable for Achilles returns has been anywhere from nine to 12 months. But other players have returned much earlier, and Bowser has a chance to be ready by Week 1. It would be huge for Baltimore's D, as Bowser is one of the best athletes on the team.

Tyus Bowser Should Be Ready For Training Camp

Baltimore Ravens defensive end Tyus Bowser (Achilles) is expected to be ready for training camp, according to head coach John Harbaugh. The 26-year-old put together a fantastic season before tearing his Achilles in Week 17. Before that, Bowser had a career-high 59 tackles and led the team with seven sacks. He'll be seven months removed from surgery at the beginning of camp. It wouldn't be shocking to see the Ravens limit him right away. Although, it sounds like great news for the Baltimore defense that Bowser will be back for the start of next season.

Tyus Bowser Suffers Torn Achilles

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Tyus Bowser (Achilles) suffered a serious injury during the Week 18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The fifth-year linebacker suffered a torn Achilles tendon, which is a significant blow to this roster. Obviously, the Ravens aren't in the playoffs, but Bowser was a big part of this defense. The 26-year-old finished with 59 tackles, seven sacks, and two fumbles forced through 17 games with Baltimore in 2021. Those seven sacks actually led the Ravens roster and Bowser has improved every year since being drafted in 2017. Bowser underwent surgery on Thursday and is hopeful to be ready by the beginning of the 2022 season. Bowser is not only signed for 2022, but due guaranteed money. Hopefully this injury won't be something that impacts the progression of his career.
